heh heh. someone from cco coast guard is gonna get a demotion.
i felt that it was a good opportunity to demonstrate that the saf wasn’t soft (the usual grouse against people from ‘developed countries’): but shipping all trainees back home is akin to keeling over in the face of laughable enemies.

in peacetime you can eliminate risk completely, but there is something known as an acceptable level of risk if u wish to call yourself an army.

either way, the events have terrible implications for singapore’s security: the demonstration that spore is vulnerable to small boat landings (enemy commando teams can cross with ease), that training infantry are being treated more as civillians, and cannot be trusted to defend themselves or detect enemies (training group supervisors could be armed with a few live rounds)

yea, AP true about the las paragraph, but in the first place, Tekong should be a militry island and it is much smaller than SG, they should not been able to get on the island in the first place.

Actually, if you think from their point of view, cannot blame them. It’s not about catching them, but rather how fast you can catch them. It would not be ideal for those robbers to loiter around on the island or even worse, get to sg mainland. There is such a big upstir over this issue and if anyone was to get injured by the robbers… then people will spread rumours about sg not being as safe as it is. Then tourism rate drop, economy downturn and so on…

I think the decision to mobilize a large army to track them down is wise. It’s like telling everyone, if you dare come to sg armed, we will do whatever we can do to track you down. Think along this path and you will realise how fortunate we are to live in this secure country.

it’s saf doctrine… always outnumber your enemy 200 to 1. the trouble with tekong is that it’s more foreign to singaporeans than outsiders. so petty robbers have a significant proportion of the army cowering.

their best bet is to:
kill a lance corporal, put on his uniform, go to e-mart, purchase a colonel rank, order entry into the ammo base, take all the weapons, hitch a free ride on the fast craft back to singapore! ^_^

there’s roughly 700 soldiers n police ovr tat small island…… so exaggerating!!

it is as if lk those officers got nothing to do in spore, tat’s y all mobilise to go catch 3 arm robbers, with 2 or 3 pistols….. zzzzz

Good thing abt my internet connection. It knows when to disconnect. Eg. When I’m doing school works; when I’m dling something and it reached 99%; when I’m using a lot of RAM so when it disconnects, it crashes all the programs that I’ve opened.
