thats what i think , for router linksys, for other for example a nas, dlink , wich model did you prefer from linksys , i have to put a gigabit(1gbps), the maximum support also from the nas, what about the wrt 350 , i think it have a large rage signal, thats what i need
the nas goes until 1gbps or not?

I prefer the brand Linksys, but D-Link seems to be better when come to NAS according to some reviews I read

whats the difference between this dlink dns 323 and 343 , i know that 343 have 4 bay for HD and what is the rest of the differnces , can someone say to me where is a review of 343 , and whats the major differences between both models

Yea to me network ready just means you can use Ethernet as an interface on top of the USB

That is what I thought so, remote printing still need to connect to the printer somewhere in the intranet.

“Network ready” is ambiguous, and does not tell you that the printer can do print over IP/net aka “remote printing”. It’s usually commonly used as a marketing tool to tell you that the printer have a print server built inside, so all you need to do it just plug it straight into your network right out of the box, therefore the term “network ready”.

Currently I think the possibly of print over IP is still largely achievable on dedicated PC-based print servers (not those small plug in ones), where you can run the box on WIN or linux to catch the print jobs from the internet and spool it to any attached USB printer.

I think “network ready” on those laser printers only mean that the print server is built into the printer itself, so what it has is either an Ethernet port which you can plug direct into a wired network/router or a USB port which you can attach a USB wireless dongle to connect to your router wirelessly.

My printer is not supported =( Ops got you wrongly, I don’t think my NAS supports remote printing. I wonder does those network ready laser printer supports remote printing?

Mmm, yes many print servers do not support MF printers, since the DNS 323 is running linux, maybe you can check out SANE? http://www.sane-project.org/ maybe there is a port for it streamlined in 3rd party firmware.

Yup I know it have print server, but can you do remote printing? i.e print from outside to home to your home IP (i.e if it’s static)

Yea, DNS-323 supports print server but my printer is those AIO one and hence can’t be used =(

Hey tat is the same HD I have on my NAS as well! You’ve got quite a good buy, (at least the homework is helping) My setup is much more price when I got mine almost a year back.

I think you can finally let yr comp rest for the night as this NAS can be your home print server, you can also use this to do daily FTP backups from your server in the datacenter as well.

Do your DNS-323 support print over IP? I am looking for one which allows scan, fax and print in network.

Actually it is not called WALL-R, it is WALL-A (A = Axiom Class). Got the info from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wall-E. I thought it is Wall-R at first.
