President
Barack Obama: 364
John McCain: 163

Senate
Democrats: 57
Republicans: 40

House
Democrats: 254
Republicans: 173

Now that Obama wins, hopefully US economy will recover and most importantly US dollar will go up!

Fellow Singaporeans, we need to make a change to Singapore in 2011. I had enough of our current government.

I have to actually respect my lecturer from Employee management module. I took that module in 2006, and he actually made the remark that we should all look out for Obama because he was getting popular in US and might become the president.

Now, two years later, Obama has won and proven that my lecturer is right. And that was only of his predictions that he stated in class, which all came true. Maybe we should hire him and ask him to predict 4D and Toto numbers.

Anyway, the very act of Obama winning gives me joy and hope. If Obama can win the election, then anything can happen under the sky, including a certain party with people in white and a dream to succeed overseas.

Do you own a ride? How are u affected by ERP? Can’t get a seat on bus/train?

Compare our country’s politician vs other country’s.

Are u willing to work for $800 working 12 hours a day without overtime pay/rest?

I can’t justify the increase in GST though.

Lastly, Do you think our opposition’s good enough to lead the country? Maybe some, but number’s not good enough.

acutally… the citizens of US has to bear the responsibility of their current situation. during the previous election, it was bush vs al gore. their characters are very different and at the same time clear cut: a strong warrior vs a peace-loving nature lover. THE PPL MADE THEIR CHOICE. years later. 911 case, US under attack, mr president had to stand up and do sth. having this warrior personality in him, he waged war to defend his country. give him credit… he got rid of a bloody tyrant ruler in iraq. he had to let his army stay in the land to protect the oil so that terrorist wont get a hold on it. if not all of us might need to cycle to work/study by now. economy downturn is a made-man “natural” process. it’s a cycle. it will definitely happen. juz so happen that it started when bush’s career was on the down side and his ppl turned away from him.

leadership is not an easy role. first minute, ppl love and adore you. half an hour later, ppl flash you down the toilet bowl. this is human’s nature. every leader has to get used to it. everything will b easier if everyone aint too self centered and co-operative. it might help in your perception when you step out of your comfort zone and do some social work. =)

Yes, I have 2 cars at home and no I am not paying them but I feel the pinch. Try getting on a train or bus during peak period, it is overload. Why? because our transport system is world class? Or because we are importing too much talent till there are no space for locals?

$800? You must be kidding. Will you? justifiable doesn’t mean a few million dollars per year.

We do not need the opposition to lead the country, it will never happen at least for the next 10 to 20 years. We need opposition for checks on our current government and to give our current government a wakeup call and not implementing something because they feel like it.

Come on, this is the 21st century, most of the people are educated. Increase GST to help the poor? Think we are born yesterday?

xiuyu –

So true! You hit it right on the head… Bush had the highest ratings of any president a year or two after 9/11 and now his ratings are at about 25%… Not so great… Why is that? Well most likely it has a lot to do with the economy, which isn’t horrible, but its not good. Technically the USA is not in a recession because they haven’t experienced two quarters of negative economic growth. And the unemployment rate is still within reasonable limits. I’ve been looking around and I don’t see many people cutting back on stuff. They still have money to buy food and go to movies etc… It is downright wrong to compare this to the great depression. Economic downturns aren’t usually the Presidents/Governments fault, this stuff happens. You might be able to blame the President if he put big tax increases through though, since those are added expenses taking money out of your pocket… If you look at historical data it happens about once every 5 years… It’ll most likely rebound in a couple years to higher levels than before.

Anyway back to ratings. I think it is interesting that the congress has 10% lower rating than Bush, and yet it always seems like people point to Bush for all the USA’s problems, yet the congress is probably as much to blame, at least as is seen by the polls.
