The Innergie Magic Cable Trio – Charge & Sync 3-in-1 USB Cable and Innergie Magic Cable Duo – Charge & Sync 2-in-1 USB Cable are the most expensive USB cables from Innergie. Each retailing for SGD$29 at Challenger but there is a 10% discount for members, so it adds up to SGD$26.10 each.

I got the Innergie Magic Cable Trio instead since it has 3 tips (Mini USB, Micro USB & Apple 30-pin connector) whereas the Innergie Magic Cable Duo has only 2 tips (Micro USB & Apple 30-pin connector).

You must be wondering since they are priced the same, one has 3 tips and the other has 2 tips, why don’t we just get the 3 tips one instead. This is where the length of the cable comes in. The length of the Innergie Magic Cable Trio is freaking short (20cm) where as Innergie Magic Cable Duo is 4 times longer (79cm)!

The build of the Innergie Magic Cable Duo/Trio is even better than the build of the Innergie Magic Cable – Multi-Tip USB Cable and I would say the build is similar to the official Apple Dock Connector to USB Cable.

The Apple 30-pin connector fits perfectly to my iPhone 4S, something which Deal Extreme‘s version of any Apple 30-pin connector cable can never do!

I would say this cable is very well worth SGD$26.10 considering the official Apple Dock Connector to USB Cable already cost SGD$28.

Bought the Innergie Magic Cable – Multi-Tip USB Cable from Plaza Singapura’s Challenger for SGD$13 (after 10% member’s discount is SGD$11.70). I always wanted to try out Innergie’s product, because it is always very well designed though it is on the pricey side.

In case you are wondering, Innergie is popular for universal adapters for laptops.

This particular model of the Magic Cable comes with 2 tips, 1 for Micro USB and the other for Mini USB. Also the cable is retractable.

Despite being expensive, the build quality is pretty good. It is not as flimsy as those retractable cables that I bought from Deal Extreme.

And yes, there is a clone of Innergie Magic Cable on Deal Extreme which is called “Multifunction 3-in-1 Retractable Charging Adapter – Black“, it is a 3-in-1 cable instead of 2-in-1 as it contains the extra Apple 30-pin connector. Just for comparison, I did placed an order for that on 4th February 2012 since it is only USD$5 with free shipping to any country in the world. I will post about it when I received it 1 month later (Deal Extreme takes freaking long to ship).

Introduction
In 2008, we launched Google Chrome to help make the web better. We’re excited that millions of people around the world use Chrome as their primary browser and we want to keep improving that experience. Today, we’re introducing Chrome for Android Beta, which brings many of the things you’ve come to love about Chrome to your Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich phone or tablet. Like the desktop version, Chrome for Android Beta is focused on speed and simplicity, but it also features seamless sign-in and sync so you can take your personalized web browsing experience with you wherever you go, across devices.

Speed
With Chrome for Android, you can search, navigate and browse fast-Chrome fast. You can scroll through web pages as quickly as you can flick your finger. When searching, your top search results are loaded in the background as you type so pages appear instantly. And of course, both search and navigation can all be done quickly from the Chrome omnibox.

Simplicity
Chrome for Android is designed from the ground up for mobile devices. We reimagined tabs so they fit just as naturally on a small-screen phone as they do on a larger screen tablet. You can flip or swipe between an unlimited number of tabs using intuitive gestures, as if you’re holding a deck of cards in the palm of your hands, each one a new window to the web.

One of the biggest pains of mobile browsing is selecting the correct link out of several on a small-screen device. Link Preview does away with hunting and pecking for links on a web page by automatically zooming in on links to make selecting the precise one easier.

And as with Chrome on desktop, we built Chrome for Android with privacy in mind from the beginning, including incognito mode for private browsing and fine-grained privacy options (tap menu icon, ‘Settings’, and then ‘Privacy’).

You can now bring your personalized Chrome experience with you to your Android phone or tablet. If you sign in to Chrome on your Android device, you can:

View open tabs: Access the tabs you left open on your computer (also signed into Chrome) – picking up exactly where you left off.

Get smarter suggestions: If you visit a site often on your computer, you’ll also get an autocomplete suggestion for it on your mobile device, so you can spend less time typing.

Sync bookmarks: Conveniently access your favorite sites no matter where you are or which device you’re using.

Availability
Chrome is now available in Beta from Android Market, in select countries and languages for phones and tablets with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. We’re eager to hear your feedback. Finally, we look forward to working closely with the developer community to create a better web on a platform that defines mobile.

Valentine’s Day is around the corner or to be exact next Tuesday. If you are looking to give your girlfriend/fiance/wife flowers, I would totally recommend Far East Flora (FEF.com).

I have ordered many flowers from FEF.com and each time I am never disappointed with the quality of the flowers. I tried some other companies for flowers during Valentine’s Day and the quality is horrible, there is once they even staple the stalk of the rose to the wrapper!

Far East Flora has a mobile app called SG Florist on the App Store (universal app) that allows you to sent flowers to your love ones using your iPhone or iPad. Far East Flora has partnered with PayPal for payment on both their website and their iPhone/iPad app and hence making payment is a breeze!

Let’s walk through the whole process.

Loading Screen + Country Selection

FEF.com has branches in Hong Kong as well and hence the country selection.

Surprise + Login

Once the app is loaded, you will get to the surprise screen which display some facts and tips about flowers and occasions (and if you are lucky, you get a discount code). You can shake your iPhone or iPad and new facts and tips will appear.

There is also a login button at the top left hand of the screen for you to login to your FEF.com account. This will load your recipients that you have saved in your FEF.com’s address book.

Shop

The main screen of this app should be the Shop screen which it allows you to browse all kind of flowers and gifts.

Hand Bouquets

Most of the time, I like to give hand bouquets, so I just tapped on the “Hand Bouquets” sub-category and it will show me a list of hand bouquets flowers with their names and pricing. You can also sort by date added, highest priced and lowest priced. If you do not like the detailed viewed, you can also switched to the grid view (which I do not really like).

Flower Details

Tapping on any flowers’ name, will bring you to more details about the flowers like the description of the flowers, earliest delivery timing as well as the option of adding it to your shopping cart.

Shopping Bag

They do not literally use the term Shopping Cart, but instead they just use Shopping Bag. Once you tapped “Add to Bag” a prompt will appear telling you that you have successfully added the flower to your shopping bag and whether you want to switch to the Shopping Bag screen so you can checkout immediately.

Checkout

Since I always used my PayPal account for FEF.com because it is much easier (just login to PayPal and click Pay) to checkout compared to native Credit Card payment. I tapped on “Pay with PayPal” and it will bring me to PayPal payment page where you have to login to PayPal to process your payment. If you like to see the breakdown of the cost, you can click on the Down Arrow at the top right hand of the screen.

Completed

Shopping has become so much faster and easier when you order flowers and gifts on -the-go with the SG Florist mobile app
Available on Apple’s App Store for iPhone/iPad and on the Nokia Ovi Store

Calling all husbands and boyfriends – recall the last time you had to spend hours at a shopping mall hunting for that perfect present for you other half? SG Florist, Singapore’s FIRST mobile flower and gift delivery app, comes to your rescue. You no longer have to spend time browsing through numerous stores, simply order flowers and gifts from your phone in a jiffy with the SG Florist mobile app.

Flowers and gifts get delivered the same day you order. If you had a really busy day, you can even order flowers for that special someone at 4PM and have the items delivered to them between 7PM to 10PM the same day. If you’re forgetful, set a reminder in the app to deliver flowers on Valentine’s Day.

All you’ve got to do is tap and swipe though a wide selection of over 1,000 gift options ranging from flower bouquets, plant arrangements, gift hampers, gourmet baskets and even perfumes. Select your gift, add to your shopping bag, and check-out with PayPal in two simple taps. As the app offers ‘Pay with PayPal’, you don’t even need to enter in your 16 digit credit card number – simply log-on to your PayPal account and confirm purchase. PayPal also provides a safer mobile payment method as no financial details are shared with merchants or stored on mobile devices. With faster, safer mobile payments, PayPal continues to connect shoppers to savvy merchants like Far East Flora who are growing their business through mobile commerce today.

What’s really cool about this app:

Reminders and Wishlist: You can pre-select your favourite gift items under ‘Wishlist’ and set reminders for special occasions like birthdays, anniversary and Mother’s Day.

Sync addresses from phone contacts: You can sync recipients’ addresses and details from your phone contacts. Saves the hassle of typing in addresses.

Surprise: Tap the ‘Surprise’ tab, shake your phone – if you’re lucky you might get a discount exclusive to SG Florist app users.

It is retailing for SGD$299 and if you pay by American Express (AMEX) credit card, there is a 10% discount, so after the discount, it cost SGD$269.10.

The Crumpler Dry Red No. 3 is a carry-on cabin luggage and it fits exactly the cabin of the plane (I have seen my colleague used it). It measures 38cm x 55cm x 23cm (Width x Height x Depth) and weights 2.7kg.

It has a front compartment suitable for laptops and it can fit up to a 17″ laptop. It comes with a very nice drawstring shoe bag as well!

I got my Timbuk2 bags when I was in San Francisco last December. One of my readers wrote in and asked a couple of questions regarding the Timbuk2 Q Backpack 2011. So I thought instead of replying him via email, I might as well share it with other readers whom might find it useful as well.

Front View

Back View

I bought the Timbuk2 Q Backpack 2011 (420d nylon gunmetal/blue/black) for USD$99 which after 8.75% California after tax comes up to USD$107.66 (SGD$134.18).

The thing I like about the Q Backpack 2011 is that it has a dedicated/separated side compartment for any 15″ laptops. So you do not need to remove your bag to access your laptop, just un-sling 1 end of the strap and you can access it.

It has a total of 5 compartments (including the laptop compartment) for different purposes.

<img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7034/6806378481_94551f7ea8_z.jpg" alt="Laptop/Side Compartment To Hold 15" Laptop" title="Laptop/Side Compartment To Hold 15" Laptop" style="border: 0px;" />
Laptop/Side Compartment To Hold 15″ Laptop

Main Compartment For Books

The main compartment can fit a 1,000 pages textbook as well as a lunchbox.

Large Front Compartment

The large front compartment is for you to store your gadgets like a 3G dongle, pen, USB flash drive, portable HDD, cables, etc. It also fits my Cocoon Grid-It of 10.5″ x 7.5″ in size.

Small Front Compartment

The smaller front compartment is for easier access of your keys, wallet and perhaps your namecard holder.

Bottom Compartment

Last but not least, the bottom compartment is meant for your laptop charger, since it is the heaviest item your will probably put in your bag, it makes sense to place it at the bottom so as not to squash your items!

It is a yearly gathering of mig33 users in Indonesia. Kopnas is derived from the word “Kopi” (Coffee) and “Nasional” (National) which means a gathering for coffee.

The event starts at 9am till 8pm and is held at Plaza Barat Senayan, Jakarta, Indonesia.

mig33 Kopnas 2012 Entrance

mig33 XL Starter Pack

mig33 – XL

This is our biggest Kopnas event yet as we have partnered with XL to introduce the “mig33 XL Starter Pack”. The starter pack cost IDR5,000 and it includes a phone voucher of IDR2,000 and just top up a minimum of IDR10,000 each time to enjoy these benefits:

Free access to mig33 for 5 days

Free calls between mig33 users (within XL)

Free migCredit bonus (10% of top-up value)

IDR1,000 for IDR10,000 phone top-up

IDR2,500 for IDR25,000 phone top-up

IDR5,000 for IDR50,000 phone top-up

miniblog

mig33′s miniblog

We also officially launched our mig33 miniblog service on that day. For more information about miniblog, check out the coverage by VentureBeat: mig33 launches Twitter-like Miniblog for emerging mobile markets. I have been working on the miniblog for than 6 months together with my colleagues and to see it goes live and being used by 300,000 daily active users really gives you a sense of satisfaction. It is the same feeling that I got when I created my WordPress plugins and seen it being used in so many websites and having a total download count of 6.3 million!

Feel free to sign up for a mig33 account and follow me on my miniblog at b.mig33.com/u/lesterchan!

mig33 Kopnas 2012 – Merchandises
I have been to some smaller mig33 users gathering before but this is my first time attending a mig33 event of this scale and size.

Despite the event starting at 9am, the crowd only started coming in around 1pm.

I did not know how much the mig33 users are fanatic about mig33 till this event. 90% of the users come to the event wearing their own mig33 community t-shirts, some brought alone their banners as well. We have booths allocated to different mig33 communities as well as mig33 users selling mig33 merchandises (some are even handmade) featuring our famous migBots!

migBots

Bought the Apple TV (2nd Generation) from San Francisco’s Apple Store for USD$99 (after tax is USD$107.67 = SGD$136.96).

I wish they sold it in Singapore but because there is no iTunes Movies/TV Shows rental service in Singapore, I doubt it will happen anytime soon. Nevertheless, it is still not a bad media player for that price. Not forgetting that the Apple TV is powered by Apple A4 chip.

Instead of using the provided Apple remote, you can also control your Apple TV with your iPhone/iPad using the Apple Remote App.

You can stream movie from your iPhone/iPad to your Apple TV using AirPlay which I tried and it is awesome!

I just bought Real Racing 2 for iPhone for USD$0.99 as EA is having that as it’s daily deals and I tried AirPlay Mirroring to my Apple TV and it looks great!

In addition to that, you can watch YouTube & Vimeo videos and view Flickr & Photo Stream in iCloud photos on your TV.

Nokia Lumia 900 was announced at CES 2012 but unfortunately at this point of time, it is only available exclusively for AT&T at launch time. I am pretty sure it will be in other countries as well. For Singapore, maybe SingTel will bring them in with their LTE service?

Now, if only Nokia included in NFC to the Lumia 900 and it would be perfect!

Nokia Lumia 900

What Has Changed?
The design is almost the same as the Nokia Lumia 800 except it has bigger screen 4.3″ vs 3.7″ while maintaining the same resolution of 800×480.

The processer speed is the same at 1.4GHz, but the Nokia Lumia 900 uses a newer Snapdragon S2 processor, which I think should give it some performance boost over the Nokia Lumia 800.

When it comes to camera, the back camera remains the same while a 1MP front-facing camera has been added.

Gyroscope has been added to the Nokia Lumia 900 which was missing in the Nokia Lumia 800.

According to My Nokia Blog, the SIM tray design has been changed as well, now it requires a SIM Door Key (as what Nokia calls it, similar to iPhone’s SIM Tray Eject Pin) to open the SIM tray. Because of this change, the microUSB port is now exposed.

The battery capacity has also been increased from 1,450mAh of the Nokia Lumia 800 to 1,830mAh of the Nokia Lumia 900.

In the same post, Nokia Lumia 900 vs Nokia Lumia 800 – what’s changed by My Nokia Blog, it states that the Nokia Lumia 800 has a cured screen with no bezel while the Nokia 900 has a flat screen with raised edge bezel.

The Nokia Lumia 900 will only be available in 2 colors (Black or Cyan) instead of 3 like the Nokia Lumia 800.

Technical Specifications

First Nokia smartphone designed specifically for the US features LTE, large display and exclusive applications

Las Vegas, US – Today at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Nokia and AT&T announced the Nokia Lumia 900, the first of Nokia’s Windows®Phone-based range to feature high-speed LTE connectivity. With Nokia’s largest display, the Nokia Lumia 900 delivers a rich content experience from a phone that still fits easily in your hand.

Coming exclusively to AT&T in the coming months in cyan and matte black, the Nokia Lumia 900 has a 4.3-inch AMOLED ClearBlack Display for rich, bright images both indoors and out, faster connection speeds based on cutting-edge 4G LTE technology, and a long-lasting 1830 mAH battery for enjoying content all day.

The primary camera includes Nokia’s exclusive Carl Zeiss optics, with large aperture (F2.2) and wide angle focal length (28mm) for high-quality, uncropped images even in low-light conditions. In addition, the Nokia Lumia 900 includes a front-facing camera boasting a large aperture and a wide angle lens that ensures sharp, bright images for high-quality video calling, right out of the box
Nokia’s third Lumia smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 900 builds on Lumia’s head-turning design on the outside and a rich social and Internet experience on the inside. People Hub is the quickest way to connect with friends with Live Tiles for real-time updates and a fast Web browsing experience with Internet Explorer Mobile.

“The introduction of the Nokia Lumia 900 with AT&T is another significant milestone in the ongoing rollout of Nokia’s global smartphone strategy,” said Chris Weber, president of Nokia Americas. “The Nokia Lumia 900 is designed specifically with the US in mind and the announcement of this collaboration with AT&T, in addition to other recent announcements, signifies a new dawn for Nokia in the US.”
The Nokia Lumia 900 benefits from a range of leading content experiences:

- The AT&T U-verse Mobile app lets U-verse TV subscribers browse the U-verse TV program guide, schedule and manage their DVR recordings, and watch hit TV shows while on the go. The U-verse Mobile library includes more than 100 TV series and more than 700 TV shows from a variety of genres.

- Nokia Drive, available to download from Windows Phone Marketplace, provides free voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation with a dedicated in-car user interface that turns the Nokia Lumia 900 into a GPS navigation device.

- The exclusive ESPN sports hub is pre-loaded on Nokia Lumia smartphones, and provides a one-stop sports application for news, videos and scores.

- The CNN App for Windows Phones provides the latest news and video from CNN’s reporting around the globe and direct access to iReport, CNN’s participatory news community. Launching globally for free in the next month, the CNN App will be exclusive to Nokia users for 90 days.

- The Univision App will be exclusive to Nokia Lumia users in the U.S. and Puerto Rico for 18 months, delivering unique and exclusive Spanish-language content experiences, including Univision entertainment, sports and soccer coverage, plus news, cooking and local content for different U.S. markets – all in one App.

- A partnership with EA to bring over 20 of the world’s most popular games to the Windows Phone marketplace, coming first to Nokia Lumia devices.

“Nokia and AT&T worked hand in hand to bring the Nokia Lumia 900 to market. Our powerful 4G network really amplifies the benefits of the Nokia Lumia 900. Sharing high quality images and videos with its integrated social networking functions is faster than ever; content from U-verse Mobile is more enjoyable on the crisp 4.3-inch screen, and with its huge battery people can do more without worrying about recharging,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of devices for AT&T. “Together, we are working to supercharge the ecosystem around the Nokia Lumia 900 and the Windows Phone platform.”

Bought the Twelve South PlugBug Charger at the Apple Store at Fashion Show Mall, Las Vegas for USD$34.95 and after tax, it costs USD$37.78 (SGD$49.14).

The PlugBug charger acts as an US travel adapter for your MacBook Pro/Air MacSafe Power Adapter and on top of that it gives you an additional USB port that allows you to charge your iPhone or iPad. I find it super useful for hotels that has limited power sockets. If you prefer not to attached it to your MacSafe Power Adapter, no worries as it can be used as a standalone USB charger.

The USB output produces a 5V at 2.1A which is perfect for iPad charging.

An international version is in the works right now and should be available by early next year and I am so going to get that as well!

In my Looking Back 2010 post, I stated I wanted to visit the US and see some snow in 2011 and I did! I am posting this post at my uncle’s house in LA!

For my 2011 resolution/wish, I would like to visit the US or any country with snow! I have not seen let alone touch snow in my 26 years of life before (Snow City is not counted as it is crap). I am so going to make this wish comes through. Tentatively planning to go to the US in December 2011.

I have been to San Francisco and Los Angeles and going to see some snow tomorrow at Big Bear Mountain! I have completed my resolution! So happy!

For 2012, my resolution/wish is pretty simple and much cheaper! I just want a new iMac to replace my 4 year’s old desktop and a MacBook Air to replace my 4 year’s old MacBook Pro as well!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my readers, visitors and supporters a very Happy New Year 2012! HUAT AH (hokkien word for prosperity)!

Google Building 44 is located at 1635 Charleston Road, Mountain View, CA 94043. I rented a car from Hertz and drove there from San Francisco. Took me about an hour to drive from SF.

When I went reached there, I noticed some snow on the ground and I thought it doesn’t snow there and indeed it doesn’t. Those are artificial snow that Google made for the Christmas season. Too bad I missed the whole white snow part as when I am there, most of it has already melted.

Android Version History (From Wikipedia):
Since April 2009, each Android version has been developed under a codename based on a dessert item. These versions have released in alphabetical order: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich. The pre-release versions of Android were dubbed Astro and Bender, but these names could not ultimately be used for trademark reasons.

Cupcake (v1.5) (30th April 2009)

Donut (v1.6) (15th September 2009)

Eclair (v2.0/2.1) (26th October 2009/12th January 2010)

Froyo (v2.2) (20th May 2010)

Gingerbread (v2.3) (6th December 2010)

Honeycomb (v3.x) (22th February 2011)

Ice Cream Sandwich (v4.x) (19th October 2011)

Jelly Bean (v5.x) (TBA)
