Seems that everyone is buying things at the IT Show 008 except my brother and I.
Mom:
Uncle Raymond:
Cousin Peggy:
Wayne:
For the Canon IXUS 860 IS, the fee gifts include: 1x 4GB SD Card, 2x 2GB SD Card, Digital Kit Bag, Case and 23-in-1 Card Reader.
For the Canon PIXMA MX700, the free gifts include: Targus Backpack, Trolley, USB Cable.
For the Western Digital Passport 250GB, the free gift is only 1 pouch for the harddisk.
For the Asus F8Sn Laptop, the original price is SGD$2598, BUT you have to pay by cash (if I am not wrong) to get the price. If you are using NETS you have to pay 1.8% extra or credit cards 2.0% extra. I think that is deceiving the consumers (IT Show is not Sim Lim Square) as it is NOT written in the brochure at all. They should not pass the surcharge to the consumer at all. But apparently, Wayne and my cousin Peggy bought the 2 laptops together and hence they waive the credit card charges as well as give them additional SGD$48.00 discount.
PC Show 2008
The next IT fair will be PC Show 2008 and it is happening from 12th June 2008 to 15th June 2008 at Suntec City, Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre (Level 3, 4 and 6). Opening hours are from 12pm to 9pm.
That is the time for me to hoot my Dell 2408WFP Monitor, Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers and perhaps a keyboard and mouse set. WOOT.
I am so pissed off with TNT service, they told me they will be here at my place to collect my Nokia N81 8GB between 3pm and 5pm and now it is 5.45pm and THEY ARE STILL NOT HERE. I gave the driver a call and he ask me to wait for him for another 20 minutes. This is so ridiculous.
I am going to the IT Show 2008 and this stupid thing is delaying me.
EDIT: After some pressurizing, the driver told me he will drop by my place first and save me from waiting the 20 minutes, but nevertheless, he is late for an hour, which I think is totally unacceptable.
IT Show 2008 will be happening on this Thursday, 6th March 2008 to Sunday, 9th March 2008 at Suntec City Exhibition Centre, Level 1, 3, 4 (Hall 401 to 404) and 6 (Hall 601 to 603). Opening hours are from 12pm to 9pm.
I am going to get the following items:
I am going to look out for the following items:
I will be going with my cousin Peggy and Wayne as they are going to get laptops, perhaps they can buy together and ask for more discounts or free gifts.
PARENTS PLEASE DO NOT PUSH YOUR PRAMS THERE. SPARE A THOUGHT FOR OTHERS.
PS: For foreigners, if you have been staying in Singapore for more than 6 months and for Singaporeans, could you help my friends’ group in doing this Online Glico Concept Store Survey? It is for their NUS coursework, module CS4253 (Information Systems Consulting), and this survey is regarding my mom’s company. Thank You So Much!
Farewell Nic & Blair
Went to Nic & Blair farewell party yesterday at Screening Room Rooftop Bar located in
12 Ann Siang Road. It is my first time there and the view is so magnificent. I think I will be back there again with Li Xiang. However the price is a little steep especially the food. There is this dish called Burger Bar where you can choose 2 mini burgers and it cost $12 (not including taxes) and the size of each mini burger is like 1/4 the size of a normal burger that you can find in fast food restaurants. The Ice Lemon Tea cost $6 (not including taxes) and it is nice and for that the price is quite reasonable for a bar.

Farewell Nic & Blair! All the best to your new home in Seattle.
Note: The photos are taken on my loan Nokia N81 8GB and hence the quality is not that good, but my N82 will change everything!
Nokia N82
I have finally gotten my Nokia N82 from Luanne last night at the farewell party. Now there are 3 persons in my family using N82, my mom, bro and I. Got myself a 8GB microSDHC from PK Computer in Funan as well for SGD$99.00.

Thank you Dinesh for the phone and Luanne for passing it to me!
Today is the 29th February 2008 and the next time February have 29 days will be in 2012.
A leap year (or intercalary year) is a year containing one or more extra days (or, in case of lunisolar calendars, an extra month) in order to keep the calendar year synchronised with the astronomical or seasonal year. For example, February would have 29 days in a leap year instead of the usual 28. Seasons and astronomical events do not repeat at an exact number of full days, so a calendar which had the same number of days in each year would over time drift with respect to the event it was supposed to track. By occasionally inserting (or intercalating) an additional day or month into the year, the drift can be corrected. A year which is not a leap year is called a common year.

Happy Leap Year everyone and for those whose birthday falls on the 29th February, happy birthday!
I got a shocked when I got home from school today. I got a package from Adobe Singapore and in the package contains Adobe Creative Suite 3: Master Collection. IT IS THE FULL VERSION with license. I was shocked and happy beyond words. I did a check with Adobe Online Shop and it cost a whopping USD$3.2K but here I have it right in front of me and right in my hands. I will install it when I get my new quad core computer sometime this year.

I would like to thank Sue Lynn from Text 100 for the surprise that she told me I would get 2 weeks ago and thank you Fiona and Audrey from Adobe Singapore for the Adobe CS3 Master Collection. I really appreciate it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH GIRLS!
L: Change The World
Caught L: Change The World last Friday at Cineleisure. The movie is just a spin-off featuring L from Death Note movie. After L wrote his name of the Death Note, he got another 23 days left to live and this movie starts off when he got 23 days left to live all the way till he has only 1 day left. The movie itself has nothing to do with Death Note and there are only 1 scene which show both the Death Note and Ryuk (Shinigami) if I remember correctly. There is some humor throughout the whole movie which I think is not that bad, but this movie is missing the excitement of L and Kira trying to outwit each other and hence the storyline is quite plain. Remember to stay after the credits.
Towards the end of the movie, there is a scene which may cause another spin off =)
Juno
Been quite some time since I watched a good comedy. Somehow I feel the dialogue used in this movie is quite sarcastic. But nevertheless, Ellen Page is a fantastic actress!
So some familiar actor/actresses face acting along side with Ellen Page, but I just could not figure their name out.
- Michael Cera acted as Paulie Bleeker and he also acted in Superbad
- Jennifer Garner acted as Vanessa Loring and she also acted in Daredevil, Elektra and The Kingdom just to name a few.
- Jason Bateman acted as Mark Loring (Husband of Vanessa Loring) and he also acted in Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, The Kingdom and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story just to name a few.
New Ikea Table
My old Sitoca table has lasted me for more than 5 years and it is still in excellent condition. I am going to pass it to Li Xiang as her house computer table is showing signs of collapsing inwards.
Went to Ikea and bought a new computer table consisting of a table top, Vika Grevsta (White), for SGD$125 and 4 table legs, Vika Curry (White) for SGD$20 (SGD$5 each). The total bill is SGD$145.10 because I paid extra $0.10 for a plastic bag as there are only 2 of us and we have problem carrying all the parts without the bag.
I going to get a Desk Pad from Ikea another day to protect my white table top!

Apple iPod Touch 16GB
After some contemplation, I finally decided to get an Apple iPod Touch instead of Asus EEE. Since I got a laptop already, I might as well go for the iPod Touch as Asus EEE is just another laptop but smaller. I wanted to wait for the upcoming IT Show 2008 which will be from 6th March 2008 to 9th March 2008 to see if there are any free gifts as well as the rumored USD$100 price drop of iPod Touch and iPhone. But iPod Touch Fans somehow think that the rumor might be smashed.
I wanted to get the 8GB iPod Touch for SGD$498 but when I was surfing around Hardware Zone Forums, I saw this thread and it was offering SGD$560 for a 16GB iPod Touch and it comes with warranty, receipt of purchase and the best part is that the box is still sealed.
I wanted to bargained till about SGD$500 because after I did a quick search and found out that most users selling their 16GB are bidded for at SGD$500, but apparently at SGD$500 the owner did not want to release it.
So in the end I bargained with him till SGD$550 and I bought it. The original price of the 16GB iPod Touch according to Apple Singapore Store is SGD$698, and hence I saved SGD$148.
The firmware that the iPod Touch come with is 1.1.1 which is perfect for jail breaking as I do not need to downgrade.
I have so many problems with jail breaking that I jail broke my iPod Touch at least 10 times yesterday due to conflict applications, SSH issues and my iPod can’t recover from recovery mode even with the help of iBrickr. But anyway, in the end I manage to jail break it to 1.1.3 just fine.
Here are the best tutorials that I found:

Suggestions or comments anyone?
Nseries WOM World has selected me to help Nokia beta test N-Gage and they even sent me a Nokia N81 8GB all the way from UK to Singapore by DHL.
According to the user agreement, the phone will be on loan to me for 2 weeks, but hopefully they can extend it for me as I am still waiting for my Nokia N82 from Nokia Singapore (it has been 3 months, sigh).
The N81 come with 4 fully unlocked games. Space Impact is a plane shooting game, Block Breaker is like Pong, System Rush Evolution is a futuristic racing game (similar to Wipeout). Among all these 4 games, my personal favorite is the Block Breaker. It is quite additive and I am stuck at the 1st boss stage!
Feel free to add me as a friend on N-Gage. My N-Gage profile is 1stGamerz.
I would like to thank Donna from WOM World for selecting me =)

DHL Parcel

DHL Parcel Opened (Bubble Wrap Protecting The Phone)

I was not at home when the delivery man came at 11am as I was in school and when I got back home about 9pm, I called the DHL hotline and I am so surprise that a real human answered my call immediately. I always have the impression that those large corporations always use machine voice asking you to press this and press that before you can speak to a real human. While I was on hold with the customer service staff, I heard my door bell ring and when I opened, it was the DHL delivery man! He was making his 2nd attempt delivery for my parcel. Thumbs up to DHL for the excellent service.
