The Innergie Magic Cable Trio – Charge & Sync 3-in-1 USB Cable and Innergie Magic Cable Duo – Charge & Sync 2-in-1 USB Cable are the most expensive USB cables from Innergie. Each retailing for SGD$29 at Challenger but there is a 10% discount for members, so it adds up to SGD$26.10 each.

I got the Innergie Magic Cable Trio instead since it has 3 tips (Mini USB, Micro USB & Apple 30-pin connector) whereas the Innergie Magic Cable Duo has only 2 tips (Micro USB & Apple 30-pin connector).

You must be wondering since they are priced the same, one has 3 tips and the other has 2 tips, why don’t we just get the 3 tips one instead. This is where the length of the cable comes in. The length of the Innergie Magic Cable Trio is freaking short (20cm) where as Innergie Magic Cable Duo is 4 times longer (79cm)!

The build of the Innergie Magic Cable Duo/Trio is even better than the build of the Innergie Magic Cable – Multi-Tip USB Cable and I would say the build is similar to the official Apple Dock Connector to USB Cable.

The Apple 30-pin connector fits perfectly to my iPhone 4S, something which Deal Extreme‘s version of any Apple 30-pin connector cable can never do!

I would say this cable is very well worth SGD$26.10 considering the official Apple Dock Connector to USB Cable already cost SGD$28.

Bought the Innergie Magic Cable – Multi-Tip USB Cable from Plaza Singapura’s Challenger for SGD$13 (after 10% member’s discount is SGD$11.70). I always wanted to try out Innergie’s product, because it is always very well designed though it is on the pricey side.

In case you are wondering, Innergie is popular for universal adapters for laptops.

This particular model of the Magic Cable comes with 2 tips, 1 for Micro USB and the other for Mini USB. Also the cable is retractable.

Despite being expensive, the build quality is pretty good. It is not as flimsy as those retractable cables that I bought from Deal Extreme.

And yes, there is a clone of Innergie Magic Cable on Deal Extreme which is called “Multifunction 3-in-1 Retractable Charging Adapter – Black“, it is a 3-in-1 cable instead of 2-in-1 as it contains the extra Apple 30-pin connector. Just for comparison, I did placed an order for that on 4th February 2012 since it is only USD$5 with free shipping to any country in the world. I will post about it when I received it 1 month later (Deal Extreme takes freaking long to ship).

Nokia Lumia 900 was announced at CES 2012 but unfortunately at this point of time, it is only available exclusively for AT&T at launch time. I am pretty sure it will be in other countries as well. For Singapore, maybe SingTel will bring them in with their LTE service?

Now, if only Nokia included in NFC to the Lumia 900 and it would be perfect!

Nokia Lumia 900

What Has Changed?
The design is almost the same as the Nokia Lumia 800 except it has bigger screen 4.3″ vs 3.7″ while maintaining the same resolution of 800×480.

The processer speed is the same at 1.4GHz, but the Nokia Lumia 900 uses a newer Snapdragon S2 processor, which I think should give it some performance boost over the Nokia Lumia 800.

When it comes to camera, the back camera remains the same while a 1MP front-facing camera has been added.

Gyroscope has been added to the Nokia Lumia 900 which was missing in the Nokia Lumia 800.

According to My Nokia Blog, the SIM tray design has been changed as well, now it requires a SIM Door Key (as what Nokia calls it, similar to iPhone’s SIM Tray Eject Pin) to open the SIM tray. Because of this change, the microUSB port is now exposed.

The battery capacity has also been increased from 1,450mAh of the Nokia Lumia 800 to 1,830mAh of the Nokia Lumia 900.

In the same post, Nokia Lumia 900 vs Nokia Lumia 800 – what’s changed by My Nokia Blog, it states that the Nokia Lumia 800 has a cured screen with no bezel while the Nokia 900 has a flat screen with raised edge bezel.

The Nokia Lumia 900 will only be available in 2 colors (Black or Cyan) instead of 3 like the Nokia Lumia 800.

First Nokia smartphone designed specifically for the US features LTE, large display and exclusive applications

Las Vegas, US – Today at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Nokia and AT&T announced the Nokia Lumia 900, the first of Nokia’s Windows®Phone-based range to feature high-speed LTE connectivity. With Nokia’s largest display, the Nokia Lumia 900 delivers a rich content experience from a phone that still fits easily in your hand.

Coming exclusively to AT&T in the coming months in cyan and matte black, the Nokia Lumia 900 has a 4.3-inch AMOLED ClearBlack Display for rich, bright images both indoors and out, faster connection speeds based on cutting-edge 4G LTE technology, and a long-lasting 1830 mAH battery for enjoying content all day.

The primary camera includes Nokia’s exclusive Carl Zeiss optics, with large aperture (F2.2) and wide angle focal length (28mm) for high-quality, uncropped images even in low-light conditions. In addition, the Nokia Lumia 900 includes a front-facing camera boasting a large aperture and a wide angle lens that ensures sharp, bright images for high-quality video calling, right out of the box
Nokia’s third Lumia smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 900 builds on Lumia’s head-turning design on the outside and a rich social and Internet experience on the inside. People Hub is the quickest way to connect with friends with Live Tiles for real-time updates and a fast Web browsing experience with Internet Explorer Mobile.

“The introduction of the Nokia Lumia 900 with AT&T is another significant milestone in the ongoing rollout of Nokia’s global smartphone strategy,” said Chris Weber, president of Nokia Americas. “The Nokia Lumia 900 is designed specifically with the US in mind and the announcement of this collaboration with AT&T, in addition to other recent announcements, signifies a new dawn for Nokia in the US.”
The Nokia Lumia 900 benefits from a range of leading content experiences:

- The AT&T U-verse Mobile app lets U-verse TV subscribers browse the U-verse TV program guide, schedule and manage their DVR recordings, and watch hit TV shows while on the go. The U-verse Mobile library includes more than 100 TV series and more than 700 TV shows from a variety of genres.

- Nokia Drive, available to download from Windows Phone Marketplace, provides free voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation with a dedicated in-car user interface that turns the Nokia Lumia 900 into a GPS navigation device.

- The exclusive ESPN sports hub is pre-loaded on Nokia Lumia smartphones, and provides a one-stop sports application for news, videos and scores.

- The CNN App for Windows Phones provides the latest news and video from CNN’s reporting around the globe and direct access to iReport, CNN’s participatory news community. Launching globally for free in the next month, the CNN App will be exclusive to Nokia users for 90 days.

- The Univision App will be exclusive to Nokia Lumia users in the U.S. and Puerto Rico for 18 months, delivering unique and exclusive Spanish-language content experiences, including Univision entertainment, sports and soccer coverage, plus news, cooking and local content for different U.S. markets – all in one App.

- A partnership with EA to bring over 20 of the world’s most popular games to the Windows Phone marketplace, coming first to Nokia Lumia devices.

“Nokia and AT&T worked hand in hand to bring the Nokia Lumia 900 to market. Our powerful 4G network really amplifies the benefits of the Nokia Lumia 900. Sharing high quality images and videos with its integrated social networking functions is faster than ever; content from U-verse Mobile is more enjoyable on the crisp 4.3-inch screen, and with its huge battery people can do more without worrying about recharging,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of devices for AT&T. “Together, we are working to supercharge the ecosystem around the Nokia Lumia 900 and the Windows Phone platform.”

Bought the Twelve South PlugBug Charger at the Apple Store at Fashion Show Mall, Las Vegas for USD$34.95 and after tax, it costs USD$37.78 (SGD$49.14).

The PlugBug charger acts as an US travel adapter for your MacBook Pro/Air MacSafe Power Adapter and on top of that it gives you an additional USB port that allows you to charge your iPhone or iPad. I find it super useful for hotels that has limited power sockets. If you prefer not to attached it to your MacSafe Power Adapter, no worries as it can be used as a standalone USB charger.

The USB output produces a 5V at 2.1A which is perfect for iPad charging.

An international version is in the works right now and should be available by early next year and I am so going to get that as well!

Nokia closes off the year with a new beginning – the first Nokia smartphones based on Windows Phone make their debut in Singapore

Nokia Lumia 800 available in Singapore from 10 December; stylish device features best social and internet experiences with signature Nokia services

Singapore – Nokia reached a significant milestone today with the arrival of the highly anticipated Nokia Lumia range of smartphones in Singapore. The stunningly social Nokia Lumia 800 will be available from 10 December 2011, and the Nokia Lumia 710 will be in stores in the coming weeks.

With head-turning design, the Nokia Lumia 800 offers consumers the best integrated social experience and fast Internet browsing, bringing content to life for the consumer. Combining familiar Nokia elements such as leading imaging capabilities, navigation and music, the Nokia Lumia 800 delivers the best Windows Phone experience on the market. The Nokia Lumia 710 extends the Lumia experience to more people around the world with its affordability while offering personalisation with its colourful changeable covers.

“Let’s talk about the significance of the Nokia Lumia devices to us – from a strategy perspective, we are delivering our first Nokia Windows Phones within eight months since we announced the collaboration with Microsoft earlier this year. And we have introduced Nokia’s signature services which make these phones much more desirable and relevant to consumers. This is a significant step forward as we continue to drive innovation throughout our entire portfolio, and the new range of Nokia Lumia smartphones is a testimony to our capabilities in balancing technology innovation with optimal user experience,” said Niklas Savander, Executive Vice President, Markets, Nokia. “There is strong engagement with our partners and operators around the Nokia Lumia smartphones, and we are overwhelmed by their enthusiasm and support. Together with Microsoft, Nokia has created a new ecosystem that opens up opportunities for developers, as seen in these first two Nokia Lumia smartphones.”

“The Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710 embody core Nokia attributes in terms of craftsmanship, trusted quality, vibrant colour and a no compromise attitude toward performance and experience. The phones also offer the best in social networking through the People Hub, offering one touch access to social networks,” said Neil Gordon, Vice President of Sales, Nokia South East Asia Pacific. “Singapore is a strategic market for Nokia, with a population of socially connected, tech-savvy and design-conscious smartphone users making it an easy choice launch market for the Nokia Lumia smartphones in Southeast Asia.”

“Canalys believes that the introduction of the first Lumia devices, based on Windows Phone 7.5, confirms Nokia’s commitment and seriousness to the platform, innovation, and the company’s new strategy. It is hugely reassuring that it is bringing two devices to market, which will be available across many highly important countries in time for the holiday season at the end of the year,” said Rachel Lashford, Managing Director, Mobile & APAC, Canalys.

Signature services and stylish accessories
Both Nokia Lumia smartphones include signature Nokia experiences optimized for Windows Phone, including Nokia Drive, which delivers a full-fledged personal navigation device (PND) with free, turn-by-turn navigation and dedicated in-car-user-interface. Nokia Drive has the ability to preload maps in over 100 countries worldwide, including all the initial launch countries, like Singapore. Nokia Drive will only be available to Nokia Lumia users and so represents significant differentiation over non-Nokia Windows Phone products as a preloaded application.

Nokia Music is the evolution of a service, developed first for the Nokia N9, and now optimized for Windows Phone. It contains a beautiful user interface and users in Singapore will be able to download music clips and albums from the extensive music catalogue. In addition, users can listen to 30sec clips of the tracks before deciding to make a purchase.
Completing the ultimate mobile audio offering, Nokia also introduced the on-ear Nokia Purity HD Stereo Headset by Monster and the in-ear Nokia Purity Stereo Headset by Monster, co-designed and co-developed by Monster Cable, a recognized leader in high performance audio. Both products provide a fresh listening experience and are the first output of the exclusive long-term partnership between Nokia and Monster Cable, intended to introduce a range of premium audio accessories to reflect the outstanding quality and bold style of the Lumia range.

Always wanted to get the Sanyo Eneloop Glitter AA Battery because it just looks so nice!

Luckily for me, the PR agency of Sanyo Eneloop sent that to me for me to feature it on my blog after seeing I am such a Sanyo Eneloop fan as I have a featured section on Sanyo Eneloop!

Anyway back to Sanyo Eneloop Glitter AA Battery, each AA battery has a capacity of 1,900mAh and all of them are Made In Japan.

It takes me about 2 hours to fully charged all 4 of them at once instead of the usual 4 hours as I am guessing the battery is already half full.

I got the Belkin Auto Charger For iPod And iPhone almost 3 years ago, but unfortunately it could not charge my iPad and hence I got to get another car charger for my iPad as I will be using it as a backup GPS device for my US trip next month.

The Griffin PowerJolt Micro is capable of charging iPad, iPhone and iPod. It takes in an input of 12v DC and output 5v DC at 2.1A. In order to charge the iPad properly, you need 2.1A whereas iPhone/iPod just need 500mAh.

It is selling for SGD$39 at all Challenger stores and as usual, members get a 10% discount and hence you only need to pay SGD$35.10 for it.

I like the form factor of the Griffin PowerJolt Micro, it is so slim, flat and light unlike most iPad car chargers out there. The packaging is simple and straightforward, literally it is just the iPhone Dock Connector Cable and the Car Charger Head.

Bought the Mophie Juice Pack Boost from Apple (Singapore) Online Store for SGD$69.90. I can’t seem to find it in any Authorized Apple Reseller stores in Singapore. Instead they are still selling the older model, the one with 1,500mAh battery (Amazon Link) instead of this 2,000mAh one.

The Mophie Juice Pack Boost is bigger and much lighter than it looks. I was expecting it to be more compact in size and heavier, but surprising it is lighter than any of my Eneloop Chargers that I bring along in my bag whenever I am out (which is a good thing).

Another advantage of the Mophie Juice Pack Boost is the built-in Apple 30-pin dock connector‎ and hence you do not need to carry an extra Apple Dock Connector to USB Cable along with your backup battery which normally allows you to charge via USB port.

As mentioned earlier, the battery in the Mophie Juice Pack Boost has a capacity of 2,000mAh and this allows you to fully charge any iPod/iPhone models even if the battery is totally empty in your device.

It does charge your iPad but at an extremely slow rate since it only output a maximum of 1A. The iPad requires at least 2.1A for a proper charge.

The Mophie Juice Pack Boost also acts like a dock which holds your iPhone upright while it charges (see the last picture embedded in the post).

Bluelounge Kicks is a small, thin, silicone-rubber rails that prevent your iPad from slipping, scratching and damage. Once it is applied, you can lean your iPad 2 against the edge of your table while you rest the iPad on your lap.

The rubber rails provide a better grip against the edge of the table and hence providing you a fix and stable position while you read you ebooks or surf the Internet on your iPad.

For me instead of sticking directly onto my iPad 2, I stick it on my iPad 2′s SwitchEasy CoverBuddy case.

I placed my order on the 17th October 2011 and I received it on 26th October 2011. It costs USD$11.95 (SGD$15.13) and I paid USD$27.75 (SGD$35.12) for shipping via USPS (Priority Mail International) together with my Bluelounge Milo and Bluelounge Sumo.
