Regarding the transition from @hotmail.com to @live.com, a pretty straightforward process is given on the new Windows Live site at http://www.windowslive.com/freshstart. Although you can automatically migrate your Hotmail inbox using TrueSwitch, anything else tied to your Live ID such as your contacts, Space, Xbox Live Gamercard etc cannot be automatically moved across due to legal and privacy issues. You can manually move across your contacts by exporting and importing into Windows Live Messenger, but unfortunately that’s it. There’s some useful tips if you do want to migrate though.

Always wanted to try out creating a Facebook Application and finally took a little bit of time of and created a simple Facebook App called GaMerz.WordPress.

The application simply displays my live site traffic (users online) and the latest post for my GaMerZ.WordPress blog. The file is placed in the WordPress plugins folder but it does not need to get activated. If anybody wants the source code, just drop me an email.

An internationalized domain name (IDN) is an Internet domain name that (potentially) contains non-ASCII characters. Such domain names could contain letters with diacritics, as required by many European languages, or characters from non-Latin scripts such as Arabic or Chinese. However, the standard for domain names does not allow such characters, and much work has gone into finding a way around this, either by changing the standard, or by agreeing on a way to convert internationalized domain names into standard ASCII domain names while preserving the stability of the domain name system.

IDN has, by the standards of the Internet, a long history; it was originally proposed in 1996 (by M. Duerst) and implemented in 1998 (by T.W.Tan et al). After much debate and many competing proposals, a system called Internationalizing Domain Names in Applications (IDNA) was adopted as the chosen standard, and is currently, as of 2005, in the process of being rolled out.

In IDNA, the term internationalized domain name means specifically any domain name consisting only of labels to which the IDNA ToASCII algorithm can be successfully applied.

Was searching for DOCTYPEs for XHTML 1.1 and came across Wikipedia article on XHTML 2.0.

After reading it though, I can’t wait for XHTML 2.0, the features looks great. Below are 3 of the features that I picked out.

» Any element will be able to act as a hyperlink, e.g., < li href="articles.html" >Articles< /li >, similar to XLink. However, XLink itself is not compatible with XHTML due to design differences.

» Any element will be able to reference alternative media with the src attribute, e.g., < p src="lbridge.jpg" type="image/jpeg" >London Bridge< /p > is the same as < object src="lbridge.jpg" type="image/jpeg" >< p >London Bridge< /p >< /object >.

» The alt attribute of the img element has been removed: alternative text will be given in the content of the img element, much like the object element, e.g., < img src="hms_audacious.jpg"/>HMS < em >Audacious< /em >.
