It is our 6th anniversary! We celebrated by having a night stay at The Scarlet Hotel. On the way to the hotel, we bought Koi Bubble tea since our bus stop right outside the stall.

After checking in, we watched Toy Story 3, it was good. I think this third installment is better than the first and second one.

We went to the gym later. The gym is small and we are the only one in the gym. There is no swimming pool here just a small Jacuzzi and similar to the gym, there was no one else using the Jacuzzi besides us. I like the way they name the room. The gym is called Flaunt and the Jacuzzi is called Soda.

We wanted to have our dinner at Breeze @ Scarlet but the weather looks like it is going to rain and hence we went to Outback at Millenia Walk for dinner instead.

After dinner went for a drink at Bold @ Scarlet as we got complimentary jug of house pour and 12 sticks of chicken satay. We chose Vodka Lime for our house pour and it was pretty diluted.

As part of our 1 Nights 2 DaysZED package, we have 2 complimentary tickets to Zouk but we did not want to go because it is kinda out of the way.

Breakfast was at Desire @ Scarlet. Food was alright but choices are very limited.

We paid SGD$230++ which sums up to about SGD$270 for the 1 Nights 2 DaysZED package. This promotion end on 31st December 2010.

Today marks our 5th anniversary. This year is a little unique. We did not buy each other gifts nor write each other a card. Instead we bought a card together and both of us will write in the same card.

We had a buffet lunch at Carosel at Royal Plaza. It is SGD$45 per pax during a weekend lunch and we get to redeem SGD$10 worth of carpark fees which is equivalent to about 3 hours of parking at Royal Plaza.

The reason we chose Carousel is because Li Xiang and I saw all the nicely displayed Macrons when we walked past Carousel quite sometime back. Another reason is because I was reading a review on it at HungryGoWhere and there are plenty of reviews on it (I sorted by number of reviews). But after trying it out, it is pretty average. The food and dessert variety is alright but the taste is not there. I kinda like the coffee there though. The thing I hate the most is the ice cream, I can tell that they are using some cheap ice cream like Walls because I am very sensitive to ice cream taste. I expect better quality ice cream like Mövenpick at least. Nevertheless the service was pretty good, my iced water was topped up almost instantly once it is goes below half.

I think Straits Kitchen at Hyatt will be better choice if you ask me.

After lunch, we went to Singapore Flyer. It is our first time there after so much procrastination from Li Xiang. We wanted to use the 15% voucher because it was sent to Li Xiang because of her upcoming birthday but didn’t know if you use OCBC or DBS credit card you are entitled to 20% discount. The usual adult price ticket is SGD$29.50 and after the discount, we paid SGD$23.60 for each ticket.

The experience we have on board the Singapore Flyer is pretty good. The service staff are all well mannered and friendly. The Singapore Flyer really gives you a 350° view of the landscape of Marina area and I didn’t know the Marina Bay Sands IR is so big till I am on board the Flyer. The ride lasted exactly 30 minutes because I was subtracting the time I took from the last photo with the first photo.

We bought the sovereign photo at SGD$18 because I don’t think we will be sitting the Singapore Flyer anytime soon and even we did, we will not be buying the photograph again. Most importantly the photography have a date stamp on it which marks today’s date. Li Xiang said the typography of the date could be smaller.

Came back home about 4pm and we played Wii Sports Resort!

Sushi Tei will be celebrating it’s 15th birthday this coming September. As part of the celebration, Sushi Tei will be giving back to the community. It has created a “Sushi Tei Anniversary Menu” with five menu items where 100% of nett sales proceeds from the anniversary menu will be donated to charity. The adopted charities for Sushi Tei are Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) and Home Nursing Foundation (HNF). The proceeds will be split evenly and it hope to raise SGD$150,000 for the adopted charities.

In addition to commemorating the organization’s anniversary, Sushi Tei will open a new restaurant at City Square Mall this September. Further expansion plans for this year include moving Sushi Tei’s very first
restaurant from its original location at Holland Village to a larger premise in the same vicinity. The new Holland Village restaurant will combine contemporary elegance and intimate ambiance with an expanded
alfresco dining area.

The menu features two very popular Sushi Tei dishes: Sashimi Salad and Soft Shell Crab, and three new dishes created especially for the fundraiser initiative: Beauty Roll, Tutti-Frutti Roll and Crunchy Tuna.

Sashimi Salad – SGD$9

Soft Shell Crab – SGD$10

Beauty Roll – SGD$14

Collagen, avocado, crab meat sushi roll. The girls love this because of the collagen!

Tutti-Frutti Roll – SGD$12

A sushi roll of mango, honey dew and cucumber with strawberry and avocado on the top.

Crunchy Tuna – SGD$9

Deep fried minced tuna roll with chopped garlic topped with flying fish roe and spring onion accompanied with chili mayonnaise sauce. My personal favourite!

While you are there, check out the current promotion which is the, Fusion Fiesta Promotion. I highly recommend the Salt Ice Cream as dessert. Yes Salted Ice Cream! They specially imported it from Japan!

Salt Ice Cream – SGD$3.20

Today marks our 4th anniversary together which is about 1,460 days.

Went to Li Xiang school to pick her up and we proceed on to Bras Basah to help my mom buy the expiry date sticker from Modern Bookstore located at level 1. Li Xiang bought a book from Basheer Graphic Books located at Level 4 as a birthday present for her friend, Nicole.

We also went to Fancy Papers which is located opposite National Library Board to get some art papers for Li Xiang school work and had lunch at Park Lane Wan Ton Mee which is located opposite Bugis Junction.

After doing all doing these errands, we went to Singapore Biennale 2008 (South Beach Development) as Li Xiang needed to retake some of the shots that she took previously. There are still 2 more places of the Biennale that we are going to covered tomorrow as it is quite out of the way for today’s itinerary.

After Biennale, we went around Haji Lane looking for costume’s mask for Nicole’s 21st birthday party tomorrow. We did saw 2 shops selling but I did not buy any as it is too expensive (Li Xiang already got hers). I think I will just forgo the mask as with spectacles on it is quite difficult to wear any mask.

I also went to a shop selling fabrix cases which are laptop sleeves as recommended by leinad of Hardware Zone. Unfortunately, they do not have MacBook Pro 15″ sizes available and I have to order. I hope leinad does a Mass Order (MO) for this.

Finally it is time for dinner. We had dinner at relish by wildrocket which is located at #02-01 Cluny Court (next to Serene Centre) at 501 Bukit Timah Road. We ordered the Chicken Thai Salad ($15), Handmade Onion Rings ($8) and Chocolate Cointreau Milkshake ($9.50). For the main course, I ordered Bacon Cheese Burger ($19) while Li Xiang ordered Curry Chicken Burger ($17). Total bill is $80.62 including 10% service charge and 7% GST.

The burger was good and the prices are very reasonable. The most expensive burger is priced at $19. It is definitely much better than uberburger (it had closed down) that we ate 2 years ago.

The milkshake is fantastic, it is thick and creamy, I find it better than Project Blood Brothers Cafe’s milkshake. Li Xiang love the onion ring a lot. As for the burger’s patty, it is thick, juicy and tasty! Li Xiang’s curry chicken burger really taste like curry chicken! Not forgetting they serve each burger with lots of fries that both of us can’t finish our own portion.

Happy 4th Anniversary my penguin! I love you always <3

Looking back:

*UPDATE* The Chocolate Chiffon cake that I bake was a success but the chocolate taste is not strong enough, have to melt the chocolate and spread it over the slice of cake when eating. Thanks to my mum for helping me, even though she did almost 50% of the whole process. Thanks Mum!

As usual, I am so busy with school, as said previously, I got assignment due every single week since the 3rd week of school. It is now mid October. My last day of school is 14th November 2008. I got 3 exams on the 22nd, 25th and 27th of November 2008. The confirmation date for my Taiwan trip is getting closer each day, it is now mid December 2008. I think I should be able to get the exact date at the end of this month or latest by early November 2008.

Last Friday, Li Xiang has no school, so I skipped my lecture (the lecture is quite useless as that module is not examinable) and we spend some quality time together. I sent her to school to loan her Canon 20D DSLR camera for her photography assignment and then we went to Singapore Botanical Gardens to re-take some of her shots for her photography assignment.

After spending an hour there, we proceed on to Orchard Road to catch a movie, we caught Big Stan. It is the first movie directed by Rob Schneider and the movie was good. Personally, I love movies starring Rob Schneider and Adam Sandler as I have not been disappointed in any movies with them in it yet.

On Sunday, we went for Tim Sum at Crystal Jade Dining at VivoCity as our Thailand friends are leaving, they are here on a business trip to discuss something with my mom. 3 years ago when we visited Thailand, they really took good care of us! I will definitely be going to Thailand again when it is more stable over there. After the Tim Sum, Li Xiang and I headed home to catch some sleep while my mom and brother went to Takashimaya as they are having a storewide 15% discount because of their 15th anniversary in Singapore.

At night, they went to Serangoon Gardens because my mom’s cousin baby is one month old while Li Xiang and I headed to Central for the famous Ma-Rutama‘s Ramen. They are opening a branch soon in Liang Court on the 1st November 2008. We walked around Clark Quay and Liang Court and took some pictures along the way. Last weekend was the best weekend I had since school starts.

Our 4th anniversary is coming on the 24th October 2008, going to bake her a chocolate Chiffon cake. It is my VERY FIRST attempt in baking a cake, hopefully it does not fail. I think it is easier for me to do programming than baking. LOL
