- NATIONAL service training will be cut by six months to a maximum of two years, a reduction made possible with the Singapore Armed Forces relying more on technology and less on having large numbers of soldiers.

- Getting a four-month reduction will be those who enlist between this month and November this year.

- The full six-month reduction will be for all new recruits who enlist from December.
