Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
Posted By Lester Chan at 00:21 in Blog

Argh, they is some bloody cookie problem with my IE or my WordPress, type a long post and when I click “Save”, it redirected me to a login page and I lost the post. And I so happen to forget to copy it to my clipboard. I am so frustrated with this bloody cookie problem.

Here I go AGAIN.

Went to PC Show 2004 at Expo. The walking lanes are quite narrow or rather the booth are taking up too much space. It was pretty small compared to Sitex 2003. There was not much people at that time I went at around 11.30am.

My brother got himself 2 games, Ninja Gaiden and Project Gotham Racing 2 for his XBox for $111.84 after a 20% discount. I should have gotten Mech Assault too because I kinda like the game.

Got myself an Iomega Micro Mini 256MB USB 2.0 Drive for $139. Been waiting for the 256mb version to launch since the debut of the 128mb version at IT Show 2004.

Had lunch at Funan’s Ajisen before meeting up with LiLian and Jean with my brother for Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban. Before the show, went to the World Book Fair 2004 at Suntec City. It was pretty big, thus it looks quite empty. Look for Serene and Karen who is working there at booth A22(I think).

Was so fasinated by the magic rings at one of the magic booth that we keep wondering how the auntie there did it. The 4 metal rings and a burned CD containing video tutorials on how to perform the trick costs $25. It is way overpriced, I rather search the Internet for information.

The show suppose to last 141 minutes according to GV website, but apparently it last only about 135 minutes. The show was quite ok, but the ending is abit weird. The person sitting above us and on the right of us was very noisy, got quite pissed off with them. The next Harry Potter show, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will debut in November 2005.

Had a treat from LiLian and Jean to Kenny Rogers. Ordered the Ribs and Chicken set and shared it with my brother. The ribs taste quite good, so much better than Cartel’s one. Thanks dudette.

Dedicated Eminem - Lost Yourself at the Suntec’s fountain, but as usual, they did not play our song because they ran out of time. I still wondering why they don’t change to digital music. A 200GB 3.5″ harddisk can hold more than 50k songs and is more practical compared to storing 2.5k CDs. And you can find a particular song faster than you can find a particular CD.

Had dessert at NYDC before calling it a day.

*Update* I think I just fixed the cookie bug.

End Of Singapore Food Expo
Posted By Lester Chan at 23:48 in Blog

Today is Vesak Day and plus there are a few other ongoing exhibition going on like Metro Sale and Motherhood, thus the whole expo is very packed all the way from 11am to around 7pm. From 7pm to 10pm, the crowd was lesser because many people need to work the next day.

The Pretz was sold out at around 7.30pm and I lose a bet with LiLian and Jean. If the Pretz is sold out by today, I will treat them to Harry Potter, Else, they will treat me (programming language is shorter). So end up I have to treat them LOL.

LiXiang and Laily came, chatted with them for a while, shall have a official outing this Friday. Alvin and JieLin came too and they saw me according to LiXiang.

Overall it is a very fun experience, you get to know people especially bosses and of course you will never get a hungry moment. The exchanging of food products between stalls is very fun and cool too.

Too bad, this is the last time I can help my mom till 3 years later which will be 2007 unless I got a 8am to 5pm vocation. Yet another reason to hate NS. 2 and a half years of “jail”.

Jackey and co came back yesterday, guess all of them KOed and only left with LiXiang to chat with yesterday night.

Watched Coyote Ugly VCD which I borrowed from Jackey before he left for Malaysia. It was a good show, regretted not catching it in the cinema.

PC Show 2004 starts tomorrow at Singapore Expo Hall 6, will be going with my mum and my brother. He is going to get Ninja Gaiden and Project Gotham Racing 2. After that will be watching Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban at GV Marina.

Uploaded a mini gallery of the Singapore Food Expo 2004, it contains 16 pictures and is located under Gallery > Family.

This is a good email:

CHILD: Dad, where did I come from?

DAD: Okay, we had to have this conversation some day!.. Listen… Dad and mom met in a chat room on the net. I set up a meeting with your mom and we landed in the bathroom at the Cyber Café. Then, mom did some downloads from dads memory stick and when dad was ready to upload, we discovered that there was no firewall. Seeing that it was a bit too late to cancel, I just carried on doing the upload. Nine months later, the damn virus appeared!.

CHILD: Huh?

Worth a laugh.

Busy At The Food Expo
Posted By Lester Chan at 23:52 in Blog

Been busy for the past weekends and will be till Wednesday. On Saturday and Sunday was very crowded at the expo. Sales was good. Saw ZiWei on Sunday at the expo. Hard to look to notice your friends because there is simply too many people.

Met up with Victor, YongTang and CheeWee for supper, finally Victor had not been lazy and come and fetch me because I was too tired to drive. After the supper, I got home first because I was very tired and sleep. They went somewhere other they dropped me.

Today it was only crowded during the afternoon, when the night approaches, the crowd was getting lesser. The afternoon was like an auntie paradise because there are lots of them. Saw YongTang and XiuLing (his girlfriend).

Been at the expo for 4 days and I notice a trend at my mom’s stall. Those stingy fucks who take lots of Pretz sticks 99% (when I mean alot, I mean they just take one bundle and roughly is more than 4 sticks whereas “normal” person only will take 1 or 2 sticks), they will not buy. Normally they will take and go without looking at you. Those who look at you and you stare back at them, a 50% chance they will buy. Some generous people, do not even try the sample and they just buy it.

Tomorrow the big boss of Thai Glico will be flying from Thailand to visit us at the expo, thus tomorrow everything will be orderly and “neat”.

9 more days till my civilian life is put on hold for 2 1/2 years.

Singapore Food Expo 2004
Posted By Lester Chan at 23:41 in Blog

Day 1 of the Singapore Food Expo 2004. This food expo will last for 6 days in order to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the Singapore Food Expo.

Crowd today was ok. It means that it is still walkable most of the time. Jean and her friend LiLian is working for my mom as promoter.

This year, the walking space is much larger and hence it is easier for people to move about the entire hall. There are also more stalls and variety of food as compared to last year. The tables and chairs for dining have also increase in numbers.

Is pretty hard to explain how is it like, so call down to Singapore Expo Hall 3 to find out. It is quite far but is very convenient and accessible because of the MRT. Remember, it is opened from 11am to 10pm daily.

My mom’s booth is A07 and the company name is First Food Industries Pte Ltd, it is on the first lane if you are entering the hall from the walkway from the MRT.

Happy Birthday Dad!
Posted By Lester Chan at 00:41 in Blog

My dad turned 48 today. Happy Birthday Dad. Went to a chinese restraunt named Hua Ting located in Orchard Hotel for dinner. Got 4 glasses of red wine and a birthday cake free. The food there is quite good, price is reasonable and service not that bad too.

Serene and I bought a Fila pouch each yesterday for only $13+ because Fila is having 30% discount almost store wide. I just love the Great Singapore Sales.

Check my results online and I got an A for my Internship. There is only 1 module. This semester I am not that entuesiam about my results whereas for the pass 5 semesters I would camp online and wait exactly at 12mn to check my grades. This semester is like “Oh, it is pass 12mn and my grades is out, think I go check it.” I think most people will get an A for internship.

My graduation ceremony will be on Thursday, 19th August 2004, 2:00pm at the Conventional Center. For those haven’t indicate whether or not they will be attending the ceremony, please do so at SP Grace.

Singapore Food Expo 2004 will be on from 28th May 2004 to 2nd June 2004 from 11am later till 10pm at the Singapore Expo Hall 3. Admission is free.

PC Show 2004 will be on from 3rd June to 6th June from 11am till 8pm at the Singapore Expo Hall 6. Admission is free.

Updated my desktop with the visual theme called PxlPlus Pinstripe 2. Winamp skin is called PxlPlus Pinstripe. Here is 2 screenshots: Screenshot #1, Screenshot #2.

Looks like there is alot of links in this post. LOL

WordPress 1.2
Posted By Lester Chan at 18:50 in WordPress

Spend a few hours yesterday upgrading this site on my localhost to WordPress 1.2. Customised all the hacks I did for my WordPress to make it compatible with WordPress 1.2. It is kinda easy, the API didn’t change much. I love the new plugin architecture. Just drop it in the plugin directory, activate it and you can use the function. It is much neater than my-hacks.php.

Once I am satisfied with the site on my localhost, I just upload it to the live server and it is done. I always like to do stuffs on my localhost first.

If there is any bugs, please post in the comments of this post. Thanks alot.

By the way, I have updated the poll with a new topic, entitled “Preferred IM?”. Vote it away on the right.

The Day After Tomorrow
Posted By Lester Chan at 19:50 in Blog

Hi guys and girls, just came back from my chalet and watched The Day After Tomorrow. The Chalet pictures had been up within an hour after I came from the chalet which is around 1pm. It is under my Polytechnic Gallery. It will come in 2 favours, one is my camera and the other is from Fiona camera. Still waiting for Fiona to send me. As usual, this update will contain 3 days worth of text.

Monday
Ron, Lester Goh and XiuHui met up at my house, then my mom fetched us into Sentosa. The chalet name is called “Sentosa Holiday Chalet”, it is the exact same location as Charlene’s chalet which is held 1.5 years ago but ours is just smaller. It cost $88 for 3 days and 2 nights and is organised by XiuHui.

Our initial plan was to have the BBQ on the 2nd night but some of us can’t make it so we bring forward it to the first night. 7 of us stay overnight which includes Ron, Hafiz, Lester Goh, XiuHui, Fiona, ZiWei and I. Another 4 people came for the BBQ which includes Bernard, Calvin, Razine and Ismail.

The food was not really enough, but still managed to fill most of us the stomach. After this incident, I realise that sometime is good to have lesser food then more food because no food are wasted.

Quite a small world, one of the girls staying in the chalet beside us is Hafiz secondary school fried.

Hafiz bought Red Label and coke before he came, and at night we spend our time playing cards and drinking that. Played “99″ and “in the middle” and loser have to drink as usual. Each cup roughly contain 1/5 of Red Label and 4/5 of coke. I drank 3 cups in total, Lester Goh drank quite alot till his whole face and eyes was very red and Hafiz got drunk. =D

Talked about who we first met when we came to poly and how we get to know each other. Till now I do not know how I get to know Ron. Hafiz, Lester Goh, XiuHui, Fiona and ZiWei was from my lecture class so I knew them since year 1.

Tuesday
All of us slept till 1pm and we went to Siloso Beach. The weather there is fantastic, sunny sun to get sun tan and windy wind for coolingness. Was hesitating whether or not should we play basketball and who should go and borrow the basketball. End up decided to go together but the court got taken up in the end.

Went to Burger King for dinner and sat there for quite long listening to Ron talking about his Japan trip during year 1. That was really once in a lifetime opportunity and after listening to him, I feel like going Japan. Ron go organise an outing to Japan after our NS.

Took the monorail from the ferry terminal. When we are at the cable car station, we are told to alight because the train is going to the workshop. I find it is kinda lame.

Went to the 7-11 in Palawan to get some snacks, got myself a Chicken Brani, recommended by Lester Goh. Walked back to our chalet from there and was quite surprise that it is nearer then I thought. 3 of our chalet neighbours are having thier BBQ and it was quite lively.

The neighbour on our left was quite generous, they give us around 8 chicken wings and 4 hot dogs because we let them use our chalet as a passage way to the common kitchen. The kitchen outdoor area is shared between 2 chalets.

Wanted to take a picture of all 7 of us and they are posing while I set my camera to timer mode. When I just sat on the bed, the end of the bed gave way, but luckily it was not that serious. Really good luck to the next person who is sleeping at that bed.

Called Jackey and they update me on their location, they are stuck in some ulu ulu place because they have miss the bus and have to wait till the next day to get a bus to go to the national park.

We slept quite early, at around 4am all have KOed.

Wednesday
Woke at 10am and we are suppose to work at 9.30am to help clear those stuffs because we are checking out. XiuHui alone woke up very early and did all those stuffs and it is done before we woke up. Feel damn bad not helping out. Thanks alot dude and sorry for not helping out.

Had breakfast at Seah Inn Hawker Center before taking 855 home. Came home unpacked my bad, and quickly “process” all the photos and uploaded them. Was around 1pm at that time.

Met up with Serene at 2pm to watch Day After Tomorrow. Initially suppose to watch Troy because I thought the official opening date of The Day After Tomorrow is tomorrow. But I checked my handphone’s WAP and found out GV Marina is actually showing The Day After Tomorrow at 4.10pm. Of course I will choose The Day After Tomorrow compared to Troy. And I noticed that sneak preview do not have any advertisements.

The show lasted almost 2 hours and it was excellent. It was exciting throughout the show and practically my eyes were glued to the big screen for that 2 hours. The visual effect was bloody fantastic. We know is fake but it is almost flawless. 2 thumbs up for the show.

I am going to watched it again with Jackey and co when they return from Malaysia.

A total of around 1k words for this blog entry =D

ITE Balestier
Posted By Lester Chan at 23:25 in Blog

Went to ITE Balestier for the WSC Briefing. It was a short and quick one. It stated at 9.30am and ended at 11am. They even provide breakfast for us. It was quite a spread, very thoughtful of them. Thumbs up.

Came home, wanted to took a nap, but end up with out with Phuse, Ownage, Zeus and Redworm for dinner at City Hall Cartel. Queued for 30 minutes and waited another 30 minutes for our food. Cartel is always that slow. We ordered 5 sets of St Louis Pork Ribs. When our food is on our way to our table, the waitress drop our 2 plates of ribs because she carried 3 plates at 1 go and the plate was not light. End up waited for another 15 minutes for the 2 plates of ribs. Total waiting time 1h 30mins.

Today went down to Orchard for a walk with my parents, had lunch at My Mum’s Cuisine and dessert at Projectshop Blood Brothers Cafe. The cake there is good.

Met up with Calvin, Lester Goh and XiuHui to buy the BBQ food. Will be having a chalet from tomorrow till Wednesday. Then on Thursday will be celebrating my dad’s birthday and on Friday till next Wednesday will be helping my mom out at the Singapore Food Expo.

Shrek 2
Posted By Lester Chan at 23:13 in Blog

Watched a friendly soccer match yesterday at 3am. France vs Brazil. It was quite a good match, both teams are equally good, thus the results is 0-0. I was hoping Brazil to win because I support them and Brazilian babes are pretty =D

And damn, Ronaldinho performed very well in the match, he was practically all over the place and I think he got the most possession of the ball followed by Zidane.

Had lunch today at Swensens in Toa Payoh. First time I ate 5 scopes of ice cream at one go. The ice-cream name is called topless 5. I think I shall stick to that next time as I don’t really like those “extra” stuffs on the ice cream. Went to the CPF talk in the auditorium of HDB Hub with my mom. I was very impressed by the auditorium, it is the best auditorium I have ever seen. The talk is regarding the submission of CPF through online means and I am the youngest there.

Met up with Serene for a movie. Watched Shrek 2. It is a good show and is very funny and the ideas in the movie are very original. I love the character, Puss-in-Boots. This film is by dreamworks. Disney is also coming out with two 3D animation, Shark Tale and the other one is called The Incredibles. For Shark Tales, the settings is based underwater something like Finding Nemo. I really love those 3D animations and really wonder how much space does their Storage Area Network(SAN) have and how big in file size is a frame.

Will be going to WSC meeting at ITE Balestier from 9am. Boring

Agent Cody Banks 2
Posted By Lester Chan at 23:26 in Blog

Yesterday went to Sentosa’s Siloso Beach with XiuHui and co. The beach was quite empty but still got chio bus of course. Ron, WeiJian and I have come to a conclusion that most chio one are wearing pink.

Inflicted 2 cuts but no blood came out, wonder why. Had dinner at Pasta Mania, ate the Country Baked Pasta. First time I finished the whole portion without getting sick of it, maybe I am very hungry.

Watched Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London. The show was quite ok and the storyline is very typical. It will be out in Singapore on 13th June 2004. The young agent girl in the show is chio at least from my point of view. Her real name is Hannah Spearritt. After doing some googling, I realise that she was from S-Club 7 and is 3 years older than me. =D

Had my fortnightly dose of Depot Road Laksa today. Check my SAT scores online, and I was quite happy that I crossed over the 1k mark. I got 590 for Maths and 470 for English, total is 1060. This is the results you get if you didn’t study at all. Been there, done that. =D

My NTU/NUS letter did not came yet. Damn it.

Received Jackey and co first post card from Malacca.

Check out The Broken, there are 3 videos there, that is worth to download, trust me. The 3rd video has an interview with Kevin Mitnick, a very famous hacker. Social Engineering + Hacking = Owned.
