My Driving License Arrived!
Posted By Lester Chan at 23:15 in Blog

This morning while I was sleeping, I was awoken by my brother saying that my driving license had arrived. I was so happy but I was quite tired so I did not jump out of my bed, just woke up slowly. Opened the letter and saw a short letter which contains a small paragraph of text and my driving license is just attached below it. My picture on the driving license was not very clear because BBDC photo taking machine SUCKS. My friend ask me to report lost and pay $20 for a new license. LOL

Met up with Calvin, Victor and JingWei for shopping, although we spent more time sitting down at Heeren’s Spinelli, Cineleisure’s Burger King and Wheellock’s Coffee Bean. We talk about lots of stuffs, army, anime, final fantasy, cars, driving, girls and relationship. Saw Lynn at Spinelli too with her manager. Think she was having a metting. It was quite interesting. One thing for sure, guys can never beat girls in shopping, they can walk the whole day without resting.

Bought a black Levi’s type-one jeans from Heeren. After 10% discount is $98. Nowadays shopping centers have toilets that are so style and clean, it really impress me. Especially those shopping centers in Orchard Road.

By the way, OG had opened a new branch at the newly renovated Orchard Point. Not too sure whether they will move the branch at Orchard Emerald to there.

Will be going to Sentosa tomorrow. =D

Sun-Burn
Posted By Lester Chan at 23:05 in Blog

Finally I did some exercise today with my secondary school friends. Went to jog for 2 rounds at Queenstown Stadium’s track and swam a few laps at the Queenstown Swimming Complex. Did some sun-tanning and now my whole body got sun-burn, hot hot hot.

After these exercise went for a feast at Seoul Garden in Great World City. I think whatever I exercise today will be back again because of Seoul Garden. Been more than 6 months since I last ate at Seoul Garden. I think the last time I ate at Seoul Garden was at the Pixel Junkies outing. Ordered tom yum soup as the soup based, and it taste rather saltish. Maybe the taste has been neutralized by the salted vegetables and sze chun vegetables that I had added in the soup.

I got lots of programming stuffs that I really want/need to do. WordPress Advanced Search, WordPress Who’s Online, WordPress Polls, WordPress Shoutbox and my ITP project. I hope I am able to put my ITP project on my first priority because currently I am not able to do so as I keep coding add-ons to WordPress.

Will be going to get a pair of Black Type-One Levis jeans from Heeren tomorrow with my secondary school friends.

And on Sunday, I will be going to Sentosa to get more sun-tan.

Coincidental Day
Posted By Lester Chan at 22:11 in Blog

Went to GMTI Building at CommonWealth to transfer my FYP to the live server. Now it is live on the Internet. URL is http://www.imh.com.sg/quietroom. On my way there saw JingWei. He is meeting Calvin at Bugis. After the transferring of my FYP, went to Bugis to meet them to play CS.

Met up with JunXian and CheeWee for dinner opposite Tiong Bahru Plaza. Ate the Ban Mian, taste quite ok. On our way to Tiong Bahru Plaza, saw YongTang. He joined us. Actually 4 of them wanted to watch LOTR: The Return Of The King till they meet YongTang and I. So end up we went China Town instead. Haha, feel so bad but I think is heaven’s will because it is too coincidental.

China Town was even more crowded today. Saw some performance by a Kung Fu Master, it was kinda scary. ShiMing met up with us and then went to Maxwell Market for supper. The funny thing is that no one really organize this outing today and it just comes so naturally.

Today, completed installing and the configuring the server and software needed to run my ITP properly. Last time it used to take me 1 hour just to configure Apache, PHP and MYSQL, now it takes less than 10 minutes. The more you play around with the softwares, the better you are in it.

Completed the coding for wp-stats.php and wp-wap.php. Now you are able to view my blog over your mobile phone.

The URL is http://www.pixel-junkies.net/kore/gamerz/wap.php

If you are in the bus or mrt or waiting for bus or mrt, just give it a read. =)

China Town
Posted By Lester Chan at 23:01 in Blog

Today, is the first day of Internship Training Program. I am supposed to do a E-Learning website. Something like the blackboard but just smaller in scale. Today spend most of the time designing the database. Shall be coding it in PHP with MYSQL, if possible I will try to use OOP(Object Oriented Programming) method.

Went out for lunch with my mom at Amara Hotel. Simply love the Korean food there, it is cheap and very delicious. Did some coding for this site, now the archives, calendar stats are done. I shall build up this site bit by bit.

Had dinner at Hans at Great Eastern building. After dinner, went to walked around China Town. It was fairly crowded as it is a Monday. Nothing much to see actually. The stalls there are almost the same. Is like they have 10 stalls selling the same thing all over the few streets. But I can feel the atmosphere there.

Tomorrow will be meeting my liaison officer and will be going to GMTI Building at CommonWealth to oversee the uploading of our FYP on the live server and make sure nothing goes wrong.

Hows ITP guys and girls?

ITP Starts Tomorrow
Posted By Lester Chan at 21:51 in Blog

Met up with Jacky and Laily at Bugis to go to Sim Lim Square. Jacky’s aunt want to get a high-end computer, so I went to give advice to Jacky, then in turn he will tell his aunt. At first I thought his aunt will be going. LOL

Went back to Bugis for a walk. My FYP client called me when I was at Bugis Street, then when I was in the M1 shop at Bugis, I saw him. What a small world. He went to get a Sony Ericsson T610 for his wife.

Went to fetched my brother for dinner after his tuition at Bedok. We settle down for dinner at a hawker center at Bedok. That hawker center is filled with stalls selling good food. We really had a feast. Ordered minced pork noodle, meat congee, cuttlefish and kang kong. fried carrot cake, fried oyster egg and fried prawn noodle. Yummy

Today woke up very early to pray. Went to Waterloo Street the Guan Ying temple and after that went to pray my grandmother. Wanted to eat Ng Ah Sio Bak Kut Teh, but when we went there, they are closed till 24th January 2004. Then we decided to have breakfast at Suntec’s Cartel. The service there is really very bad. There is only 1 chef and it takes more than 40 minutes to get our breakfast done, end up my dad was very fed up and went to get the money refunded. Not only our table, basically every table in the restaurant complained about waiting for more than 30 minutes for their breakfast.

Sent my mom to office and went home to sleep. At night drove my family to Liang Court for dinner. As usual the whole shopping center is really like a ghost town.

I am getting the hang of parking!

Tomorrow will be the start of our ITP(Internship Training Program).

First Day Of Driving Outside
Posted By Lester Chan at 23:31 in Blog

Drove my mom’s car to Tiong Bahru Plaza for the first time to take MRT, of course with my mom sitting beside me. I got horned 2 times. Idiot. 1 time for not turning right as the road is clear because I can’t see the road as a van is blocking my view. The 2nd time was that I was giving way to a pedestrian to cross the road on a zebra crossing (this is the lamest).

Met up with Geargina at City Hall for a late lunch. Had the minced pork noodle from Marina Square. After lunch, she went on a shopping spree and bought quite a number of stuffs.

Met up with my mom after that at Clementi to go to her office to help her solve some computer problems. She asked me to drive. I don’t really like the gears of her car because I had a VERY hard time engaging it.

My dad came to fetch us, but once he reached my mom office, I took over his car. As his car is Auto Gear it was so easy to drive just that the steering is a little stiff, but overall still ok. Drove all the way to Toa Payoh to visit my grandfather and my auntie and drove all the way back to my house without getting horn. LOL

I had a hard time changing lanes as I can’t really see how fast the cars is traveling, all I can see is their headlights. I also had a hard time parking, but I think after a few more times, parking will be much easier for me.

From now on, my mom want me to drive whenever our family go out, she said by doing this everyday, I will be very steady after the end of January. Haha. It was kinda fun driving =D

I Passed My Driving
Posted By Lester Chan at 22:24 in Blog

Today just came back from the Chalet. On the first night, only 6 of us stayed. This is a good thing because there is enough space to sleep for all the 6 of us.

Went back to school yesterday from chalet for the ITP briefing. The director of ICT talk was interesting but when he hand over the mike to the Liaison Officer, his talk was very boring and I can sense that the whole auditorium want him to finish it fast.

After the whole boring talk, collected money from our classmates for the BBQ. We went to Carrefour to buy those food. As we were running late, we only spend 30 minutes at Suntec’s Carrefour.

We started the fire at around 8pm, it was kinda late, but better than nothing. Around 30 people came for the BBQ, so it was quite a successful one although they should be more people going for it. It is really a pain in the ass organizing such huge events, where almost everyone can’t confirm whether they are coming and the pricing of the BBQ. But at the end of the day, you will feel happy as most of the time it turned out to be successful. Thanks to Serene, LiXiang, Laily and Jacky for organizing the chalet.

I came home half way from the BBQ because I need to go for my driving test today. I had lunch at Swensens at West Mall with my mom before facing the ultimate challenge, passing my driving test.

I got a driving lesson before my test, it was smooth, but when it comes to my Warm-Up, I took car number 10 and it sucks, step so hard on the acceleration, only accelerate a little bit. When I do the direction change, I hit the curb. When move off from slope, the car engine stalled. I was like “sian 1/2″.

I got Test Route 1, Jalan Teck Whye as my test route and Mr Lee as my tester. At least my tester’s face don’t look fierce. I was very luckly to get Jalan Teck Why as my test route because Bukit Batok have a pasar malam and there is always so much pedestrians around. Traffic around there at that time was quite ok. My tester changed abit of the route. Suppose to do U-Turn, instead, he ask me to turn right and go back to BBDC.

After the test, went to the tester’s office, told me some stuff, but I wasn’t really paying attention because I was anxious for the results. I saw him tick 2 points in the car, but when he is at the office, he ticks so much more. He told me I passed and ask me want to buy Provisional plate or not, I was so happy, of course I bought it. I got 14 points total. 1x Delay In Moving Off, 2x Fail To Confirm Safety, 2x Fail To Use Appropriate Gear. The “2x Fail To Confirm Safety”, I think he purposely give me. When I was doing parking, I practically look at every directions that compass have, so that is no way I can get that. But never mind at least I passed.

Ok. I am so happy tonight! As you can see, I have released Version 2.0 of my site earlier to commemorate this event. Will document the change log later.

School Of Rock
Posted By Lester Chan at 23:17 in Blog

I have broken my sleep record. I woke up at 5pm on Sunday after sleeping at 5am on the same day. What did I do till 5am? Debugging WordPress 1.0. The importing file from b2 to WordPress is one hell of a headache. So many bugs that could not even run the file, I really wonder how did it pass the test. Of course I managed to fix it and get it up and running on my localhost. I told the developers many times about the bug, either they did not bother about me or they are fixing it.

It is a Sunday and my mom is working till 8pm because Chinese New Year is coming and she will be working for 7 days till 8pm. After fetching her from work, went to Great World City for dinner. First time my parents ate Teppanyaki together with my brother and I. They do not really like it. Had desserts at McCafe, and their Banana Chocolate Cake is fantastic. It is quite expensive because the slice of the cake is small.

Today went back to school for lunch and to check out my ITP posting results. SP is really weird. If they can release our results online, I don’t see why they just cannot release out ITP posting results online. Instead we need to go down just to check it. Had my driving revision lessons later, everything was quite fine. Lets hope during my TP that day, it will be just as fine.

Met up with Fiona and co at Plaza Singapura to watch School Of Rock. Upon having my dinner at Long John Silvers, saw Alvin and JieLin. Been such a long time since I last saw them. School Of Rock really rocks. I like the show and it is really hilarious. Those kids are really professional in playing those instruments. Yes, it is their real talents and no fakes. If I am not wrong, the kid’s parents who acted in the show are their real-life parents too.

Will be going to chalet tomorrow till Wednesday.

Musical Fountain
Posted By Lester Chan at 23:33 in Blog

Yesterday, had my driving lesson. It was the sarcastic instructor, but at least this time he did not pick on me all the time because I correct what he told me is wrong from the previous lesson and that seems to be the way to stop him.

Met up with Jacky, Serene, Laily and Laily Sister to watch LOTR: The Return Of The King again. I bought a Adidas shoe, white shoe with black stripes. Cost me $107 after 10% discount for the Heer Card. I simply love the card and I can say it is very worth it even if you are paying $15 for it.

Walk round Orchard Road and headed towards Scotts’s foodcourt for dinner. We ate Pasta Mania, sometimes eating too much pasta, you can get really sick of it.

Today, went out with Jacky to shop around Orchard. He bought a Levis Jeans, a unique watch from Takashimaya and a sling bag. I bought a fossil watch with Chinese characters on it. It is very unique, paid $138 for it.

Met up with Laily and her sister at Esplanade then we went to Sentosa to watch the Musical Fountain. It was very spectacular. The image projected out by the laser is sharp and so life-like. Really take my hats off to those person who created the software. Such a small world, saw Ron and his family just outside the musical fountain.

Wordpress 1.0 is out, but it has lots of bugs. I can’t even get it to upgrade from b2. Much really modify the code.
