The Google USB Type-C to USB Standard-A Plug Cable has been out of stock for quite some time. I managed to buy it when it just got back in stock on 9th November 2015. Because it doesn’t ship to Singapore directly, I have to ship it through a freight forwarder like HopShopGo.

The retail price is US$12.99 (S$19) excluding shipping fees from HopShopGo and comes in only one length which is 1m. It is a USB 2.0 cable and hence the data transfer speed will be capped at 480Mb/s.

I was reading the comments on Android Police and it seems that this cable is similar if not the same as the Monoprice’s USB 2.0 USB-C Male to USB-A Male Cable, 3ft.

Monoprice’s one only retails for US$9.99 (S$15) and do ship directly to Singapore. But since it is currently out of stock till 27th November 2015, I can’t tell how much is the shipping charges to Singapore.

So far I have two USB Type-A to USB Type-C cables, the iOrange-E USB Type-C Cable and Google USB Type-C to USB Standard-A Plug Cable (this).

The iOrange-E cables are very well built and are good for people who do not take care of their cables.

Also if you are intending to use the cable in the car, this cable is more suitable because it is braided. The downside to braided cables are that they are thicker and stiffer.

My original Lightning cable rubber coating came off after the rubber became hardened due to the heat from the sun in the car.

When I first bought the iOrange-E cable, only the 2m length is available. Personally, I find 2m in length a little too long, I think 1m in length will be just nice.

The Google cables are no frills and only come in 1m in length. Because it is rubber coated, it is slightly thinner and can be bend easier. Of course, being rubber coated means it is not recommended to be used in hot places like in the car.

Personally, I prefer the Google cables more simply because of the length and it being thinner and less stiffer.
