I have been buying a lot of [USB-C devices](https://lesterchan.net/blog/tag/usb-c/) recently to prepare for this day.

This coming 1st September 2017, marks my third year in [Tech in Asia](https://www.techinasia.com/). Technically, I started work before my official start date, because the previous guy left in August 2014 and I have to do the takeover before that.

After three years, the time has come for my company laptop which is also a MacBook Pro 13″ (Mid 2014) for an upgrade.

During WWDC 2017, Apple announced a processor upgrade for the 2016 MacBook Pros to [Kaby Lake](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaby_Lake), Intel’s 7th generation processor.

I chose the [13″ MacBook Pro (Touch Bar and Touch ID)](https://www.apple.com/sg/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro?product=MPXW2ZP/A&step=config) with the fastest processor of 3.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 and max out the RAM to 16GB. The SSD size remains the same at 512GB (though I was tempted to upgrade it to 1TB at $580 more).

The final price is **S$3,578**.

The order was placed on 8th June 2017, and I received it on 16th June 2017.

- RAM: 16GB of 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory

- Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650
- Ports: Four Thunderbolt 3 ports, 3.5mm headphone jack
- Display: 13.3″ LED-backlit display with IPS technology, 2560×1600 (227 ppi) (500 nits brightness)
- Audio: Stereo speakers with high dynamic range with three microphones
- Keyboard: 64 keys including four arrow keys. Touch Bar with integrated Touch ID sensor
- Trackpad: Force Touch trackpad for precise cursor control and pressure-sensing capabilities; enables Force clicks, accelerators, pressure-sensitive drawing and Multi-Touch gestures
- Wi-Fi: 802.11ac. IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n compatible
- Bluetooth: Bluetooth 4.2
- Camera: 720p FaceTime HD camera
- OS: macOS Sierra
- Dimensions (W x D x H): 30.41 x 21.24 x 1.49 (cm)
- Weight: 1.37kg
