This year, we celebrated our birthday dinner together with our family at [JAAN by Kirk Westaway](https://www.jaan.com.sg/). JAAN by Kirk Westaway is a 1 Michelin Star restaurant since 2016. > JAAN by Kirk Westaway is an internationally celebrated restaurant on the highest floor of the iconic Swissôtel The Stamford in Singapore. Helmed by Executive Chef Kirk Westaway, the establishment is committed to putting a definitive mark on modern British cuisine – promising an elevated reinterpretation of British gastronomy through a modern and innovative culinary lens. For dinner, it is a 6-course menu at S$288 per pax. Despite it being only a 6-course dinner, some dishes are not listed inside, like the free-flow sourdough bread, Ribena dessert, [petit four](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petit_four), birthday cake (if you are celebrating a birthday), and a cup of coffee or tea. So, it is definitely a very filling meal. I think it is worth the S$288 per pax and another visit when the seasonal menu changes. ## Corner House For my birthday celebration with Li Xiang, we will be having lunch at [Corner House](https://cornerhouse.com.sg/) this Saturday. Corner House is also a 1 Michelin Star restaurant since 2016. > Founded in 2014, Corner House articulates a culinary vision by creative restaurateur and wine aficionado Renny Heng. Recognizing the potential of the conserved Black and White Colonial House, he set about putting together a team that was as passionate as himself to create a distinctive destination for dining. For reservations, Corner House requires a deposit of S$30 per pax. The deposit will be used to offset your total bill. You can choose to pay the deposit via PayNow or Credit Card. For Credit Card, they require you to email your credit card detail to them, which is extremely insecure. So we opted for PayNow instead. For lunch, we chose the 5-course menu at S$158 per pax. The food at Corner House belongs under fusion Asian cuisine, and hence our tastebuds are more comfortable and familiar with it. So between JAAN and Corner House, which one is better? I would say both are good, but I will choose Corner House if I have to really choose one. ## Apple AirPods Max I received my birthday present from my brother earlier this year because Apple’s shipment can be unpredictable at times.
