I am still a novice when it comes to photography. So for all my products shots, they are being taken by my [Canon PowerShot S95](https://lesterchan.net/blog/2010/09/26/canon-powershot-s95/) point and shoot camera. The S95 has been with me for more than 11 years. Both the battery and the LCD screen started to show signs of aging. So I decided to retire it.

I then switch to my [Sony NEX-3N](https://lesterchan.net/blog/2014/03/31/sony-nex-3n/) which I bought seven years ago in 2014. However, the moment I turned it on after being left untouched for a few years (I stored it with the battery removed), the LCD screen showed multiple red lines. I mean, it is still usable, but it isn’t very pleasant to use it. I might also retire it eventually.

Hence, Li Xiang decided to buy me a new camera. Since I can reuse the battery (NP-FW50) and lens that I have for the Sony NEX-3N’s like the [16-50mm F3.5-5.6 Kit Lens](https://www.sony.com.sg/electronics/camera-lenses/selp1650), and [30mm F3.5 Macro Lens](https://lesterchan.net/blog/2015/08/11/sony-e-30mm-f3-5-macro-lens-sel30m35/), the new camera has to be a Sony camera that supports E-mount lens, her budget is about S$1,000.

So I narrowed it down to Sony Alpha 5100 (S$999), Sony Alpha 6000 (S$1,099), Alpha 6100 (S$1,029), and Sony ZV-E10 (S$999). Despite Sony ZV-E10 is being marketed as a vlog camera, the features are on par with the Sony Alpha 6400, which retails for S$1,299. The only thing that Sony ZV-E10 is missing is the electronic viewfinder (EVF) and built-in flash. I can live without both because I will be using the LCD screen and shooting with plenty of sunlight in the day. If I need to use flash, I can always get a separate flash and mount it on the hot shoe.

I consider the [Sony ZV-E10](https://www.sony.com.sg/electronics/interchangeable-lens-cameras/zv-e10) to be more value for money than the rest of my selected Sony Alpha cameras, so I picked it.

Li Xiang bought the Sony ZV-E10 from [Click! Cameras on Lazada](https://www.lazada.sg/shop/click-cameras/) for S$799, and it comes with two 64GB SD Card and a Sony camera bag. After all the 11/11 discount, she paid S$680.

The box contents are simple and I am not sure why they included so many power cords inside.

Will be using the Sony ZV-E10 mainly with the Sony 30mm F3.5 Macro Lens.
