{"id":129,"date":"2007-09-18T02:24:09","date_gmt":"2007-09-17T18:24:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lesterchan.net\/wordpress\/2007\/09\/18\/error-cannot-redeclare\/"},"modified":"2007-09-25T16:11:50","modified_gmt":"2007-09-25T08:11:50","slug":"error-cannot-redeclare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lesterchan.net\/wordpress\/2007\/09\/18\/error-cannot-redeclare\/","title":{"rendered":"Error: Cannot redeclare"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I got 3 reports regarding and error that says &#8220;Cannot redeclare function &#8230;&#8221;. 2 from <a href=\"http:\/\/codex.wordpress.org\/Plugins\/Plugin_Compatibility\/2.3#U_-_Z_2\">here<\/a> and 1 from <a href=\"https:\/\/lesterchan.net\/wordpress\/2007\/09\/11\/wordpress-23-beta-3\/#comment-10807\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is likely that you did not follow the upgrading instructions as stated in the readme.html (but I maybe wrong though).<\/p>\n<p>When updating a plugin, please make sure you <strong>DEACTIVATE<\/strong> the plugin first before launching your FTP software to overwrite the files. <strong>BUT<\/strong> the best way is to delete that particular plugin folder altogether instead of overwriting it.<\/p>\n<p>When updating WordPress, always <strong>DELETE<\/strong> everything <strong>EXCEPT<\/strong> your .htaccess, wp-config.php and wp-content folder.
