Apple AirPods (2019) With Wireless Charging Case
AirPods was refreshed earlier this year in March 2019. There are two variants of it AirPods with Wireless Charging Case and AirPods with Charging Case.
AirPods with Wireless Charging Case retails for S$299 and AirPods with Charging Case retails for S$239. So to be able to charge your AirPods case wirelessly via Qi, it cost an extra S$60.
I managed to get my AirPods with Wireless Charging Case during Lazada‘s mid-year festival flash sale for just S$239 (there are only 200 units available). With a S$20 Lazada voucher (minimum spend of S$180) and S$10 HSBC credit card discount, I only paid S$209 for it, and that means I have gotten a S$99 discount. It is a super good deal.
A single charge gives you 5 hours of listening time or 3 hours of talk time. A quick 15 minutes charge will provide you with 3 hours of listening time. Coupled with the charging case, you will get a total of 24 hours of listening time.
AirPods (2019) design, dimension (16.5 x 18.0 x 40.5 mm), and weight (4 g) are precisely the same as the previous generation, AirPods (2016).
For the standard Charging Case, there is no difference in design, dimensions (44.3 x 21.3 x 53.5 mm), and weight (38 g) as well.
For the Wireless Charging Case, the dimensions remain the same while there is a 2g increase in the weight (38 g vs. 40 g).
The only visual difference between both cases is the additional charging indicator found in front of the Wireless Charging Case.
Internally, it is a considerable improvement due to the new H1 chip being used instead of W1. H1 chip allows the AirPods (2019) to pair faster, more stable connection, 30% lower latency, and a 50% increase in battery life (due to it being more efficient).
Despite the new H1 chip being used, there is no difference in audio quality between both generations of AirPods.
