As usual, army management is always so fucked up. At 8pm then I know I am suppose to take 9pm fastcraft and that is the time I took my off pass. I can book out on Wednesday because I need to attend the World Skills Singapore 2004 on Thursday to Friday. It took me great time and effort just to get this 3 days off and also got scolded by my PC. But I think it is very worth it. In army, every time there is a chance to book out, how much effort and trouble wasted is always worthed it.

Thursday, 1st July 2004
Woke up at 7am, reached ITE Balestier at 8am. The competition starts at 9.30am. It was quite a grand affair. They advertise in the Straits Time and 8 Days. On the first day, minister of manpower came, on the 2nd day onwards, it is opened to the public. I got a shock when they say we got 1 hour to read the question paper and to test the computer.

The question paper is almost the same as the qualifying round, just that the only difference is that for the qualifying round, we got only 8 hours to do, while the finals we got 18 hours to do.

We are suppose to hand in the planning and concept of the website in powerpoint file.

Lunch was very good on that day, maybe because the minister is coming.

The competition end at 5pm, met up with LiXiang to watched Spiderman 2 at Marina Square. Luckily I booked online, when I was there to collect tickets, it was sold out.

As usual, LiXiang was late, so cannot take an early dinner. Bought Sandwiches and Nacho Chips from GV, it was very filling.

Spiderman 2 lasted slightly longer than 2 hours. It was a good show, so much better than the first part. Can’t wait for Spiderman 3 in May 2007.

Had a late dinner at Olio Noodle Bar at Suntec City. The pricing there was rather reasonable, food and service is quite ok. Worth another visit.

Friday, 2nd July 2004
The competition started at 9am and ends at 4pm, we are suppose to hand in a fully functional administration backend.

After the competition, went to Beach Road to buy some army stuffs, followed by Funan for a meal at Ajisen.

Went to visit my grandfather and my auntie at Toa Payoh after 1 month in NS.

Last day of the World Skills Singapore 2004 competition, managed to finished the whole thing 10 minutes earlier. Overall this competition is quite easy. But I don’t think I can win because, when I look around, my layout/design simply sucks. The only thing that I am proud of is my programming.

Upgraded my M1 line and my parents got me a Nokia 7610. Subscribe to the Bye Bye Ring Ring service, it is quite cool. No more boring connection tones.

Met up with my mom’s friends for a dinner at Pete’s Place.

Met up with my secondary school friends for a movie at Tiong Bahru Plaza called Windstruck, the movie was rather lame, but 3/4 way through the movie, my brain stop working because I was very tired. The show lasted from 9.30pm to around 11.30pm.

Sunday, 4th July 2004
Had lunch at Marche because it is my grandmother birthday. Met up with Zeus to pass him the harddisk drive. Hope to see our server up and running before my 3rd book out.

Don’t even have time to play with my phone and transfer the songs/contacts, shall do that next week.

Every second of your book out time is precious. I think it is even more precious than water.

My IPPT disruption test is next friday, but I doubt I can pass anyway, so I am mentally prepare to stay in another 2 weeks.

Got to leave house in an hour’s time. See ya next Saturday.
