Aeon Labs Aeotec Z-Wave MultiSensor 6 (Gen5)
Together with the Aeon Labs Aeotec Z-Wave Smart Switch 6 (Gen5), I also bought the Aeon Labs Aeotec Z-Wave MultiSensor 6 from Automate Asia for S$110.
The MultiSensor 6 can be powered by both USB (Micro USB) or by 2x CR123A batteries. The batteries are not included in the packaging. Based on the specifications, the batteries are able to last you about 2 years.
Note that if your MultiSensor 6 is powered by USB, Z-Wave is smart enough to know that and it automatically uses it as a repeater.
Battery powered MultiSensor 6 cannot be used as a repeater. If you want to switch power source, you will need to remove the MultiSensor 6 from your network and pair it again as the power source is determined by Z-Wave at the time of pairing.
You can also choose to mount or stick the MultiSensor 6 on the wall/ceiling. It comes with a 3M double sided tape and 2 wall mount screws.
If mounted on a ceiling, it is able to detect motion within a 3 (H) x 6 (W) x 8 (L) metre range.
If it is placed in a corner where the wall meets the ceiling, it can detect motion within a 2.5 (H) x 5 (W) x 5 (L) range at 120°.
I am intending to have a MultiSensor 6 in all my rooms because it is able to monitor motion, temperature, light, humidity, vibration and UV (not yet supported by Fibaro Home Center).
So maybe I can do something like if it is at night and I walked into a room, the lights will be switched on automatically.
And if there are no motion detected for like 10 minutes, the light will be switched off automatically.
I was hoping that Fibaro Home Center is able to tell me how long I spend in a room based on the sensor, but I am not sure if it is possible.
