Bagel – Smart Tape Measure
Bagel is a smart tape measure that has three different measuring modes (String, Wheel, and Laser). It can also save measurements, record voice memos, and send data to its mobile app, where you can easily organize and analyze your measurements.
Bagel built-in memory can save up to 100 measurements and voice memos.
It has a built-in lithium polymer battery that lasts up to 24 hours of usage and it can be charged by the included micro-USB cable.
Bagel was started from a Kickstarter project where it raised a total of US$1,353,798 from 10,766 backers out of their initial goal of only US$30,000.
It was supposed to ship in November 2016. But like all Kickstarter projects, it got delayed. It got shipped to me via Fedex on 23rd December 2016 and I received it on 28th December 2016.
I backed the project when it was just launched and hence I was their “very early bird”. My backer number is #482.
Paid US$59 (S$85) for the Bagel. Shipping was expensive at US$29 (S$42) because they shipped via Fedex. In total, I paid US$88 (S$127) for it.
I found a flaw with the silicone case. There is no cutout for the mount holes. So if your Bagel is in the case, you can’t mount the spirit level on it. Oh well.
There are some doubts on the accuracy in Bagel Kickstarter comments section.
I did tests for the three measuring modes and I found the accuracy to be about ±0.3 to 0.5cm.
For string measure, I recorded 59.5cm but the actual length is 60cm.
For wheel measure, I recorded 60.2cm but the actual length is also 60cm.
For remote measure, I recorded 86.7cm but the actual length is 87cm.
