Fibaro Z-Wave Universal Door & Window Sensor 2 Gen5
Vesternet is having a weekly Monday sale on various Z-Wave products.
I bought a couple of Fibaro Z-Wave Universal Door & Window Sensor 2 Gen5 from Vesternet for £28.67 (S$52) each.
I also bought a couple of TKB Z-Wave TZ69E Wall Plug Switch/Meter for £23.97 (S$44) each. The TZ69E is the updated model to my previous TKB Z-Wave TZ88E Wall Plug Switch/Meter. There are no noticeable differences between the two models, and hence I will not be blogging about it.
Shipping is expensive at £18 (S$33), but it is via DHL Express. The only other cheaper option cost £14 (S$26) via Singpost. It is pretty much a no brainer choice.
I have been using the first generation Fibaro Z-Wave Universal Door & Window Sensor that I got from my Fibaro Starter Kit during the start of my smart home journey.
The second generation sensor includes an integrated temperature sensor. Because of that, the support for the built-in binary input found in the first generation is no longer available.
It now has tamper and damage protection. The sensor will immediately inform you where there are any attempts to remove the sensor or open its case.
Regarding physical appearances, the brand Fibaro is now printed on the sensor rather than embossed. The double sided tape now comes stuck on the sensor and the magnet from the factory. I also find that the double sided tape is not as sticky as the first generation.
Lastly, the second generation is now Z-Wave Plus certified.
