CraftoCatto Handmade Headphone Stand
CraftoCatto does bespoke industrial contemporary handcrafted products.
One of their first few products is the handmade headphone stand which is named Stand By Me II. The base of the headphone stand is made from concrete, and the stand itself is made from copper pipes, which are made in Australia.
It retails for S$149.90 on CraftoCatto website.
I have been using two headphone stands, the Just Mobile HeadStand and Bluelounge Posto Headphone Stand.
The design of this headphone stand is unlike any other headphone stands in the market.
I know some OCD people might find looking at the base uncomfortable because of the asymmetrical shape. That is done on purpose. I am not sure if it is perfect, will it fit into the industrial design theme?
You can customize the headphone stand by engraving text on it. I engraved my website name on it.
Because the base is made of concrete, the headphone stand is heavy and very stable. Mine weighs 872g.
Pipes are used because they are hollow, and hence you can pull a charging cable through it to charge your wireless headphones.
The T-joint of the pipe is not sharp, but it is not very blunt either. So your charging cable might be cut because of the movement of the cable against the T-joint. I have already feedback this to CraftoCatto.
The owner of CraftoCatto got back to me, saying they have been using it for more than three months, and their cables show no signs of being cut. They noted on my feedback and will make further improvements to the T-joint area.
I love products that are made from concrete and copper, as I am a fan of industrial design. However, my wife finds that industrial design is not timeless.
I concluded that the design of this headphone stand might not suit everyone. But I like it, so to each his own!
If S$149.90 is out of your budget, there is a cheaper variant, which is the Stand By Me I that retails for S$89.90. The difference between both options is the cheaper variant doesn’t have customization, no gold leafing, no cap on the top, and the headphone stand is somewhat shorter (27cm vs. 29cm).
