Aqara Smart Wall Switch Z1 Pro
Aqara Smart Wall Switch Z1 Pro is the latest smart wall switch from Aqara that is available in Singapore after Aqara Smart Wall Switch H1 and Aqara Smart Wall Switch D1.
The price of Aqara Smart Wall Switch Z1 Pro starts from S$77 on Souky’s store in Lazada and Shopee.
There are two colors available, white and black. Each color is available in 1-gang to 4-gang configurations.
Although available in a 4-gang configuration, it is not an actual 4-gang switch. You can only use it as a 3-gang switch, while the 4th button is a wireless switch that you can use for home automation. It doesn’t connect to any physical wiring.
One unique feature of the Z1 Pro is that it can work with neutral and non-neutral wiring. Hence, there are no separate models for neutral and non-neutral. I recommend using neutral wiring as it will ensure the longevity of the switch.
Another feature of the Z1 Pro is that it has a slider that allows you to control the brightness and colors of other Aqara lights like the Aqara T1 LED Light Strip and Aqara T1 Smart Ceiling Light. It can also control curtains using the Aqara E1 Smart Curtain Driver or the Aqara E1 Roller Shade Driver. Sadly, it still doesn’t support dimming.
H1 and D1 only support a single button press, while Z1 Pro supports double and long presses. Each button can trigger three different automations. Essentially, each button is a Aqara Wireless Mini Switch by itself.
The build of the Z1 Pro is similar to the D1, where the frame is also made of plastic. I wish they would adopt the metal frame found in the H1 instead.
A glass layer is on top of the Z1 Pro, which Aqara called the AG Matte Design. It reduces fingerprints and makes it less plasticky. I don’t have a fingerprint problem with my H1.
Pressing the Z1 Pro button feels more “thocky” than “clicky” compared to the H1 and D1.
Overall, the Z1 Pro offers consumers more choices of smart wall switches from Aqara. It complements the H1/D1 instead of replacing it. It doesn’t make sense to have all the switches in your house be Z1 Pro because not every switch in your home needs to control the curtain or change the brightness and colors of your lights.
