Anker Prime Charger 250W 6-Port GaNPrime Charger
My one and only Black Friday haul. I bought the Anker Prime Charger 250W 6-Port GaNPrime Charger on Shopee for S$162.29. The usual retail price is about S$222.99. You could also get it from Lazada.
Since I have been shopping on Shopee quite often this quarter, I decided, after much procrastination, to sign up for a MariBank credit card and a MariBank savings account. You can use my referral code if you are in the same situation as me, 9WNW69AK. You will get S$10, and I will get S$10.
Most of the discount happened because I finally signed up for a MariBank credit card, which immediately provided an S$24 discount. The shop discount is an additional S$5. If you can camp at the vouchers page during this period, you can get a S$20 discount voucher without signing up for a MariBank credit card. But it is the fastest fingers first.
GaNPrime results from Anker’s technology, which is built on top of GaN.
For the next three to five years, the Anker Prime Charger 250W 6-Port GaNPrime Charger can be the end-game charger, as right now, this is an overkill charger.
It has four USB-C and two USB-A ports that can deliver up to 250W of power.
Four USB-C ports are in front.
Two USB-A ports are on the right.
You can access the settings of the charger by rotating the knob six times. The first five times are basically cycling between the ports.
Only the first USB-C port can deliver up to 140W of power, but you need a corresponding rated cable like the Belkin BoostCharge USB-C to USB-C Cable 240W. If not, most cables out there are only rated to 100W.
The remaining three USB-C ports can deliver up to 100W of power each, while the other two USB-A ports can provide up to 22.5W each.
What I like about the Anker Prime Charger 250W 6-Port GaNPrime Charger is the 2.26″ LCD, which tells you the output of each USB-C port in real time.
In addition to the LCD, you can also monitor the output via the Anker App that is available for both iOS and Android. The charger can be connected locally via your phone’s Bluetooth, or you can connect it to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi to access it remotely.
There are four types of charging modes that you can set. The default is AI Power Mode. I don’t see a point in changing the default.
- AI Power Mode
- Port Priority Mode
- Dual-Laptop Mode
- Low Current Mode
You can set up to two ports for the Port Priority Mode either by using the knob or the Anker App.
Besides using the knob, you can also access the settings in the app.
When not used for charging, the charger displays the time. But sadly, there is no alarm. If not, you can use it as your bedside clock. You can choose from different clock themes from the app.
This charger will replace my Ugreen 200W Desktop Charger on my charging station. I will move the Ugreen 200W Desktop Charger to my work desk.
Unlike my Ugreen 200W Desktop Charger, which will disconnect the power for all connected devices when a new device is connected or disconnected, the Anker Prime Charger 250W doesn’t have this issue.
One attention to detail that Anker did in the app is that if three devices are connected to the charger, the image of the charger will show the cable plugged into the exact port. Here is the screenshot of when three devices are connected.
Here is the screenshot of four devices connected.
I would recommend the Anker Prime Charger 250W for all charging nerds out there. So far, none of my chargers have a screen, so I chuck it inside my charging box, and it has always been out of sight. Now, I can proudly place the Anker Prime Charger 250W in open view, especially since it has an LCD screen showing the charging output, adding to the coolness factor.
