Shure Aonic 50 Gen 2 is the bigger brother of the Shure Aonic 40 and the successor to the Shure Aonic 50.

The number 50 in the product name means it uses 50mm dynamic drivers, which Shure custom-engineered.

Shure AONIC 40 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones is actually the first Shure product that I owned. As the number 40 in the product name suggests, AONIC 40 has a 40 mm dynamic driver which makes it in the same range as the Sony WH-1000XM4 Headphones and Apple AirPod Max.

AONIC 40 is Shure’s mid-range wireless noise-cancelling headphones. They have another higher-end which is the AONIC 50.

My birthday present came early. My brother got me a very generous birthday present, the Apple AirPods Max. It retails for S$849 and is available in five colors, Space Grey, Silver, Green, Blue, and Pink.

My brother got me the Blue flagship color. He ordered on 19th February 2021, and the delivery estimate was 6 to 7 weeks, which makes it around 7th to 13th April 2021. He didn’t expect the shipment to be just one week as I received it on 26th February 2021. Maybe someone canceled their order, and they have stock.

I was waiting for the rumored Apple AirPods Studio to be announced as I intended to get it. But after Apple announces the AirPods Max, I went ahead and bought the Sony WH-1000XM4 Headphones instead.

At S$849, AirPods Max is not targeted at regular consumers. I am not an audiophile by any extent, so I would not spend that much money on headphones.

Similar to Bose QC35, KEF & Porsche Design Space One, and Plantronics BackBeat PRO 2 SE headpones, it features active noise cancellation.
