I got my posting order after waiting for a month for it after I downgraded. I been posted to SAFTI:MI -> INTEC (Instructional Technology Centre) -> IDD (Instructional Design and Development Branch) as of 14th November 2005 (yesterday).
I got mixed feelings when I got posted out because I expect my posting order to come next year, because my friend waited 3 months for his posting order. I feel happy because I am finally leaving Gombak Base, I feel sad because I am leaving my friends there, the good/bad times that we went through together, the friendship bonded are all priceless. Rest assured I will always remember you guys!
Now my vocation is Admin Support Assistant (ASA), but I don’t do clerical work. The reason I am being posted to INTEC because they are looking for about 35 NSFs with any diploma that is related to IT. We are to convert their old instructional CDs which is using Macromedia Authorware to a software called Lectora. So far there are about 15 guys here. So maybe for the next 15 people who downgraded and have a diploma that is related to IT, most probably you will be posted to here.
Life here is relax and carefree. Once you are here, I don’t think you will think of Gombak life anymore. Our working hours are from 8am to 5.30 and on Friday 8am to 5pm. On top of that, every month you will get 2x MI(Military Institute) duties which is 24 hours and the next day, you get 0.5 day off. On top of that you will also get 1x duty staff, is something like duty clerk, be the 1st to come to open the doors and the last to leave to lock the doors, but not nescassary you must stay overnight unless your boss is staying overnight.
Everyday report at 8am. 8.15am fall in, mark attendance than go for breakfast. 9am onwards you will do your work but breaks, lunch time are all otot(own time own target). You get all the freedom that you need as long you can hand in your work on time. Normally the deadline is about a month to convert 1 CD.
The RPs there when doing security check, got check, no check, no difference just for the sake of checking. If you know what I mean. Really got a culture shock.
Really love the life there. For once in NS I am doing something that is related to my diploma.
265 Days to ORD.
Congrats man!
Glad your enjoying your new vocation like I am. Its great being able to do something other than chiongsua-ing.
the RPs in every camp are like that. But the ones that I have seen the best were at Maju Camp – they really have some die-hard officier. When I was a RP, check also machiam like no check because we play with politiks sometimes. That’s a hard but sad fact for a vocation that’s supposed to be wholly full of integrity.
at least you dont need to chiong sua, unlike me! lol! now teach me how to downgrade!
LOL, i injured my back. Do more SBJ, it helps lol
bad demostration… (-.-‘”)
