ZUS Smart Car Charger
ZUS Smart Car Charger is the latest product by nonda. nonda is a smart hardware startup founded in December 2014 and is based in Palo Alto, CA.
The ZUS started out on Indiegogo and it raised a total of US$273,165.
They have two more upcoming products. The ZUS Kevlar Charging Cable which is still ongoing is on Indiegogo and Hub+ for USB-C on Kickstarter which was funded last June.
The ZUS is retailing for US$29.99 on Amazon but it doesn’t ship to Singapore directly, so you have to ship it through a freight forwarder.
Alternatively, you can get it from noda directly where it charges US$15 to ship to Singapore.
The ZUS is not just a charger but it also doubles up as a car locator using its own iOS or Android App.
ZUS locates your car via your phone’s built-in GPS so the accuracy of your car’s location will vary depending on the place you parked. It works best for outdoor parking lots. For countries like Singapore where most of our car parks are indoors/underground, this feature might not be that useful.
So when there’s a location failure, the ZUS app will send you a notification to remind you to take a photo of your parking environment. Additionally, you can also add some notes like parking lot number or parking lot color so that you can easily find your car later.
Once you have parked your car, the ZUS App will send you a notification to ask you whether you want to set a parking alarm. This is probably one of my favorite feature of the ZUS Smart Car Charger as it is very useful for coupon parking in Singapore.
The ZUS has two USB ports capable of delivering up to 4.8A of power (2.4A per port) which means you can use it to charge two iPads in the car at the same time.
The built of the ZUS is fantastic. It is made of German Bayer polycarbonate and all metal parts are coated with titanium.
It can withstand temperature as high as 100°C because it meets US Military MIL-STD-810G High-Temperature Standard.
