Sony XB950B1 Extra Bass Wireless Headphones
Bought the Sony XB950B1 Extra Bass Wireless Headphones from Amazon for US$98 (S$132).
Its usual price is US$128 (S$173), but for Black Friday 2017, the price drops to US$98 (S$132). It previously qualifies for the free AmazonGlobal Saver Shipping and hence shipping to Singapore is free if your order is US$125 and above.
In Singapore, the same headphones are selling for S$269. That is 50% more expensive!
I bought it to replace my four years old Audio-Technica ATH-M50 Headphones whose headband and ear cushions has disintegrated.
The effort to go to Audio-Technica’s service center in Ubi and the cost of replacing it is not worth it. I heard from my friend, Michael Cheng, who got his Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headband replaced, paid S$67 for replacing the headband. The headband cost itself is S$49 and labor cost is S$18.
Since these headphones will be in my office, I don’t need a good one. But I need it to be wireless. I have started a wireless movement at my office desk. My keyboard and mouse are now all wireless, and that will be followed by my headphones.
The Sony XB950B1 has a 40mm dome drive. It charges via Micro USB. A full charge of 4 hours will give you about 18 hours of audio playback.
It also comes with a 1.2m headphone cable if you prefer to use it as a wired headphones.
No traveling pouch is included but that is fine with me as I will be using it in the office.
There is a button on the left of the headphones to enable the bass effect. Despite being a bass lover, I find that the bass is too strong when it is switched on.
Despite it not being noise cancellation headphones, it already blocks out a majority of the external noise due to its around-ear design.
