My computer is not switched on 24/7. Last Saturday, when I turn on my new computer, it causes my Main Circuit Breaker (MCB) to trip. This is the first time I encountered a trip in MCB. Typically, it is the Circuit Breaker inside my house that will be tripped.
Sadly, after that happened, I can no longer switch on my computer. I suspect my Power Supply Unit (PSU) is fried.
I always wanted a power plug adapter that allows me to plug in a UK electrical plug and gives me additional USB charging. The Belkin SurgeCube 1 does exactly that. And on top of it, it has surge protection built-in.
Bought the SoundTeoh Tower Socket With 9 Outlets from Home-Fix at Ion Orchard for S$69.90. It is really an awesome space saver because of its tower design and best of all, there are 9 sockets! You will not need multi plug adapters anymore.
There are two variants for the SoundTeoh Tower Socket. One is this and the other is the SoundTeoh Tower Socket With 8 Outlets And 2 USB Ports and it costs S$89.90. A good thing about the included USB ports is the combined output of 4.2A which makes it capable of outputting 2.1A per port. Personally, I find it is not worth an additional S$20 if you have a couple of multiple USB port chargers lying around like the Aukey 50W 5V/10A 6-Port Wall Charger or the Anker 40W 5V/8A 5-Port Wall Charger.
My cable Internet contract is expiring and I will be switching over to Fibre Internet before 24th August 2011. As I do not have a Fibre Termination Point (TP) in my room, I can’t place the gateway in my room and hence I have to move it to the living room where the TP is located. In order to facilitate the move to Fibre Internet, I got the Belkin Home Series 4-Socket Surge Protector for S$25 from the PC Show 2011.
I am a strong believer of surge protection after my previous cable modem got fried. All my 24/7 switched-on devices like my modem, switches, router and NAS goes though Belkin Surge Protector. Since there are only 4 sockets (which is just nice for me) to fit 1x Switch, 1x Router, 1x Home Gateway and 1x NAS.
