Before I start, I would like to highlight that this is not a paid/advertorial/sponsored post. Just want to share my experience with fynd. fynd is a startup that does phone repair at your doorstep.

tl;dr they are awesome and I would totally recommend them.

Two days ago, I dropped my iPhone 6s Plus when I was leaving the WordCamp Singapore 2016 After Party. The phone fell flat on the screen and hit the road. And as expected, the screen shattered. One guy happened to walk past and he said “ouch”.

I was waiting for my GrabCar and my phone slipped off my hand. I wasn’t playing Pokemon Go.

Once I reached home, I was Googling where to repair my screen and the cost associated with it. Found a few shops like breakfixnow.com.sg, irepair.com.sg and www.repairphone.com.sg. But I can’t seem to find any prices on their site easily.

Suddenly I did remember that Tech in Asia covered a startup that does phone repair at your doorstep. After searching on Tech in Asia, I found the company is called fynd and the article along with it.

Navigating on their website is pretty easy and the prices are listed once you have selected your phone model and the repair you are going for.

For my case, my iPhone 6s Plus screen was cracked and it will cost me S$193 (nett price) to replace it.

You do not need to pay anything upfront, you just need to book an appointment. I booked an appointment for the next day. 10 minutes later, I got a confirmation saying my appointment and my preferred timeslot is confirmed.

I chose the timeslot from 4pm to 6pm at Tech in Asia office (I worked there in case you didn’t know). The repair guy is called Koh and he came on the dot at 4pm.

After doing some pre-diagnostic tests on the phone, he was unsure whether my LCD was spoilt due to the glass fragments. He asked me whether I wanted to change both the LCD and the screen. The cost jumped from S$193 to S$339. I didn’t have much a choice since I wanted it repaired, so I said go ahead. He was nice and he told me that he will refund me the difference if he found out that the LCD was not spoiled when he goes back to office.

After about 30 minutes, the repair was done and it is time for me to do post-diagnostic tests. I did not find any issues and hence I did the sign off.

An email was sent to me asking for payment (Cash/Credit Card/Paypal) and only after I paid and Koh received the confirmation, then his job is done.

I got a free glass screen protector on top of the repair because Tech in Asia covered fynd before!

Once Koh got back to office, I received a refund of S$146 and a SMS saying that my LCD was not spoiled! So the repair cost is only S$193 for the screen!

I highly recommend fynd if you need to get your phone repaired. You do not need to travel to any repair shops, the prices are nett and indicated clearly on their website and their staff is courteous and professional!
