Omron Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor (JPN500)
Signs you are getting older is when you need to get a blood pressure monitor after your annual health checkup. I went for my annual health checkup on 8th July 2022, and the doctor mentioned that my blood pressure was slightly above the normal range.
Based on HealthHub.sg, I fall under the High-Normal BP range and doctor ask me to watch my salt intake.
Category | Systolic | Diastolic |
---|---|---|
Normal BP | < 120 | < 80 |
High-Normal BP | 120 – 139 | 80 – 89 |
Stage 1 Hypertension | 140 – 159 | 90 – 99 |
Stage 2 Hypertension | > 160 | > 100 |
So I decided to get a blood pressure monitor for home use to monitor my blood pressure regularly.
I think the most common brand of blood pressure monitor is Omron. I changed upon the Omron Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor (JPN500) on Lazada when it was having a flash sale. This model is made in Japan and comes with a 5-year local warranty.
The usual retail price is S$129. During the flash sale, it dropped to S$115, and after deducting all the vouchers, I paid S$104 for it.
You can power this blood pressure monitor using 4x AA batteries which are included in the packaging, or via the optional Omron AC Adapter (HHP-CM01).
I am unsure whether it is because of an “outside home” environment, but my blood pressure range was normal when I measured at home. For the past week, every day I measured, both my Systolic and Diastolic readings were normal. Though for my Systolic reading, it is within the upper bound of the normal range (110 – 119). My Diastolic reading is perfectly normal (60 – 70).
