Stack Overflow The Key Macropad started out as a April Fools’ Day joke on Stack Overflow with the tag line, “Good artists copy. Great artists steal. Greatest artists copy, then paste.”

Then in September 2021, Stack Overflow partnered with Drop to make it a reality.

I preordered it for US$58.00 (S$78) on 30th September 2021, and it got shipped to me on 8th December 2021. I finally received it on 30th December 2021 via DHL eCommerce US. DHL eCommerce US shipping speed is horrendously slow, and it cost me US$20 (S$27) to ship to Singapore.

The case is made of CNC-machined aluminum. Keycaps are based on XDA profile, and the switches are Kailh Box Black linear switches.

You can always swap them out if you don’t like linear switches.

I bought it for collection. I doubt I will use it since it takes up one USB-A port and only gives me three keys.

I wish it were wireless via Bluetooth so that I could use it without the need for a USB-A port and additional cable on my desk.
