Loop & Meet (SingTel link) is an App by SingTel that allows you to manage RSVP to your events. It is different from Facebook Event because each of your guest will receive an SMS for your event and they can RSVP to the event by replying to the SMS with a #yes, #no or #maybe. Not everyone check Facebook often, but most do at least reply to SMSes.
It is free on the Apple App Store as well as Google Play.

If you are a SingTel customer, the SMSes you replied to the system does not count towards your SMS quota. From what I heard, this should apply to M1 and StarHub customers as well.
One of the hidden features I discovered that even if you do not use the app for event purposes, you can use it to check movie timings for all theatres in Singapore. The data is provided by InSing.com.
Navigating through the app, is extremely fast and responsive, I hope this is the benchmark for future apps from SingTel.
I am definitely going to give this a try the next time I organise an event and see how’s the response like as compared to a Facebook Event.

Singapore 14 September 2012 – Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (SingTel) today unveiled Loop & Meet, a mobile app that allows users to discover fun things to do and organise outings with friends. The app enables mobile users to send event invitations quickly and easily, and track responses without having to sort through dozens of email and text messages.
With Loop & Meet, users can browse through hundreds of events that are refreshed daily from inSing.com. These events have been categorised for easy browsing: movies, music, leisure, night out, arts, festivals and family.
The service allows users to invite their friends via SMS or email. Recipients can then use the SMS and web platforms to confirm attendance and chat with registered users, even if they have not installed the app. Loop & Meet will help to track the responses and send invitees reminders if they do not respond. This will make it easier for all users to keep track of the full event itinerary, time, place and attendees.
Mr Cheong Hai Thoo, SingTel’s Head of Multimedia, said: “As a Singapore company that is in the digital service business, we have developed an understanding of local lifestyle preferences over the years. We know that it is sometimes difficult to plan new activities or think of new places to visit. Loop & Meet makes this process a breeze so that users will never be short of leisure and entertainment options.”
“Loop & Meet is especially relevant as Singaporeans spend more time going out. According to research by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA), attendances at arts events locally has increased from 27% in 2002 to 48% in 2011,” he said.
Loop & Meet is an important addition to SingTel’s growing suite of multimedia offerings, which includes the skoob e-Books service, AMPed music service and deF!ND digital concierge.
