My summary for World Cup 2006 day 1: Germany beat Costa Rica 4-2 and Ecuador beat Poland 2-0. Tonight, 10th June, brings England versus Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago versus Sweden, and Argentina versus Cote d'Ivoire, all in Singapore time.
Today marks my second year in national service; I've officially wasted two years, yay! Just one more month to clear leave and two more to ORD. On a brighter note, World Cup 2006 kicks off tonight.
On Sunday, we made a last-minute decision to catch a movie, choosing between The Benchwarmers and The Nun. We picked The Benchwarmers since we rarely watch horror. My expectations were low, but it turned out reasonably enjoyable.

I caught X-Men 3: The Last Stand on Saturday with Li Xiang, Laily and Suqin; luckily I booked early. The roughly two-hour film is meant to close the trilogy. I found X1 disappointing but X2 better.
I caught Over The Hedge at GV Jurong Point on Friday and rather liked it, one of the best cartoon films I've seen, better than Open Season in my view, though Li Xiang disagrees.
No offence, but I find these actions really silly. Da Vinci Code protests are widespread. For goodness' sake, it's just a work of fiction, a movie. Wake up, everyone; it really isn't worth the outrage.
I met Kenny and his girlfriend for dinner last Monday at Manhattan Fish Market. It's similar to Fish & Co but noticeably cheaper; the fish and chips are $9.90 here versus $13.90 at Fish & Co.
I'm working on getting this site XHTML Transitional validated by the W3C, and so far so good: the blog main page and the comments page have both passed validation. More pages should follow soon as I clean up the markup.
I caught Mission: Impossible III on Saturday at GV Grand and it wasn't bad, better than MI:2, though rather short. They never explained what the Rabbit's Foot is, nor how Ethan Hunt got into the building to retrieve it.

We had dinner at the usual pasta stall outside Ngee Ann City. We then caught The Wild at Orchard Cineleisure; it had been a while, and the place has changed a lot since I last visited.
We celebrated our one-and-a-half years yesterday at Cafebiz in Traders Hotel. I used a SingTel birthday voucher for 20% off the brunch buffet. The spread was quite good with plenty of variety.

Li Xiang got into Art, Design & Media at NTU and Computing at NUS, and she'll choose ADM. She offered to take NUS Computing so we could study together; of course I'd love that, but I can't be selfish.
I caught Ice Age 2: The Meltdown on Friday midnight at GV Grand, a 90-minute film that's quite good and very funny, better than the first. I also caught Ultraviolet, an over-the-top action movie running just 88 minutes.

Just want to share that Li Xiang also got into NUS Computing, the same course as me, so I'm thrilled! She's now waiting for her NTU letter. I think the NTU BFA suits her better, though. Congrats, dear!
