Microsoft //Build/ Singapore 2015 took place on 28th May 2015 at Resorts World Sentosa. Build is Microsoft's developer conference, much like Google's I/O or Apple's WWDC, and this marked the first time it travelled beyond San Francisco.
Windows 10 launches in Singapore on 29th July 2015, alongside 189 markets, as a free upgrade for Windows 7 and 8.1 or on new devices. If you don't qualify, the Microsoft Store sells Home for S$229 and Pro for S$399.
The new Linksys WRT1200AC brings the high-end features of the WRT1900AC to AC1200 speeds at a lower price, retailing for S$329 from 4th June 2015 at Challenger and other electronics stores. I attended its Singapore launch.
Foldio 2 is a portable lightbox for product shots that folds and assembles via magnets. It was funded on Kickstarter on 17th January 2015, raising US$541,991 from 6,729 backers, and as an early backer I paid US$55.
After today's update, I noticed the Apple Store iOS app is finally available to all Singapore App Store users. With WWDC 2015 running from 8th to 12th June, Tim Cook will likely announce the Apple Watch's second wave of countries.
At Tech in Asia, HAProxy load-balances requests across two nginx web servers, but since every request arrives from the balancer, nginx logs only its IP. HAProxy's forwardfor option forwards the original client IP, which nginx can then read and block.
The LG G4 arrives in Singapore from 30th May 2015, with a recommended price of S$998 for the leather back cover and S$928 for the metallic finish. Registration of interest ran from 15th to 24th May at M1 and StarHub.
SHAPL designs and makes Smart Shower Containers, handy for travel, the gym, or home. BPA-free and recyclable, they come in two sizes, 65ml and 35ml, and are sold as standalone units, packs of three, or packs of six.
The Jabra Sport Pulse retails in Singapore for S$298. These Bluetooth 4.0 in-ear earphones include a built-in heart rate monitor that, per the specs, is 99.2% accurate against a medical ECG, though I can't verify that without another monitor.
I received the Mophie Power Reserve as a door gift at Mophie's official Singapore launch. It retails for S$69 on the Apple Online Store, though I hear it's being discontinued. It's a compact 1,350mAh power bank weighing 55g.
Until now, Mophie has sold in Singapore only through the Apple Online Store, with no retail presence. Distributed by Hwee Seng Electronics, its products are now available at Takashimaya, EpiCentre, EpiLife, Infinite, Challenger, and Digivue, marking Mophie's first product launch.
At S$110 in Singapore, the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter is easily mistaken for Microsoft's take on Google's Chromecast, but the two are quite different. I'm puzzled why Microsoft prices it at US$59.95 when the cheaper Chromecast undercuts it so heavily.
Pioneer says it's the first aftermarket car entertainment brand to bring Apple CarPlay to Singapore, with two in-dash multimedia receivers, the AVH-X8650BT and AVH-X8750BT. The AVH-X8650BT retails for S$1,049, a 2-DIN DVD receiver with a 7-inch WVGA touchscreen display.
I got my personalised Coke can from Coca-Cola Singapore's Share a Coke (#ShareaCokeSG) campaign. The world-famous campaign has reached Singapore, and for the first time here, cans and bottles carry nicknames and phrases in place of the iconic Coca-Cola logo.
Following my earlier post on watching Netflix in Singapore via UnoTelly SmartDNS, today I feature an alternative, Unblock-Us. Founded in Toronto in 2010, Unblock-Us was the first company to offer a DNS-based SmartDNS solution for accessing content unavailable locally.

The Fitbit Charge went on sale in Singapore on 19th December 2014 and retails for S$169 in Black, Slate, Blue, and Burgundy. It isn't a successor to the Fitbit Flex, which is smaller, while the Charge has a display.
I bought the Xiaomi LED Light for S$6.99 during Mi Fan Festival 2015, picking up both the blue and white at a reasonable price. A neat alternative to your phone's flashlight, it plugs into a power bank as a torch.
The MOS Spring Lightning Cable is my second MOS product, after their flagship Magnetic Organization System. It's coming to Singapore soon, but if you can't wait, you can order it from their website for US$29.95, plus US$4.94 shipping.
