Site Updates August 2002
Some site updates: added page numbers to the photo gallery, images for JL and KN's birthdays, a few more blog links on the left, and a printer-friendly version of each blog entry. Small but handy touches.

Some site updates: added page numbers to the photo gallery, images for JL and KN's birthdays, a few more blog links on the left, and a printer-friendly version of each blog entry. Small but handy touches.
Watched Mimic 2 at Plaza Singapura this afternoon, surprised it wasn't full when Signs and The Touch were both sold out. It wasn't great, the storyline crap, 90 minutes. Plenty of better movies are coming soon.
Sorry for the downtime from 1 to 2 August; PixerCor's host was apparently doing some server migration, though I don't know the details. Thanks to abnormal for bringing the site back online. Normal posting resumes tonight.
Celebrated Jie Lin and Kai Ni's belated birthdays. We'd ordered the cake from the SP Co-Op last week, collecting it only today, a mango cheesecake. Cut it at foodcourt 5, with everyone staring as we sang.
Nothing much yesterday, so no update; I was busy with my DEUI assignment 1. At page 9 with five interface elements, ten more plus a conclusion, six days left. Lost three Warcraft 3 games last night.
Out the whole day. After driving lessons, we visited the Volkswagen showroom for the Golf GTI but ended test-driving the new Bora. My mom's crunching the numbers; if it works out, we'll likely get that car.
Out all day, home before midnight. Met my poly friends for lunch, then watched Long Time Dead, scary and decent. We split: two friends and I went shopping and met another friend, while d-Z-a headed home.
To the National Library's main branch to research McDonald's for my P&Q2 module, then Orchard to buy presents for two friends' birthdays coming soon. Walked Takashimaya to Paragon to Heeren nearly twice, unsure what to get.
Nothing interesting at school, the usual Thursday. Stepped into the ICT PC Technology lab for first time, new, with P4 1.7GHz machines and LCD monitors. Added two pages and images to my DEUI assignment 1 report.
McDonald's customer support rocks. I emailed them yesterday for corporate information, and it arrived this afternoon. That's proper service; thanks, Ms Lai. Meanwhile, I emailed my DEUI lecturer a day ago with no reply yet. Frustrating.
First lesson was IWED practical, but the SP server went down, so we got an early lunch. We'll learn ASP and VBScript for IWED; I love backend web programming, though PHP beats ASP, as this site proves.
Ate at SP's Food Court 2 for first time, since Food Courts 5 and 6 were packed, so we picked further off. The McDonald's auntie wheels a trolley asking if anyone wants drinks, never seen before.
Funan with my parents to buy printer ink and 50 blank CD-Rs. Wanted Warcraft III strategy guide, but they had the orc cover, not the human one I wanted, so I skipped it. Watched Rush Hour.
Back from the Singapore Swimming Club, I stepped into the jackpot room for the first time since turning 18. Played table tennis with my brother; he's improved since last year, a school player for Gan Eng Seng.
Animating a simple walking box is harder than it looks: seven steps, and the lecturer couldn't finish them in one practical. That tells you how tough it is. Lost all three Warcraft III games with Reaper.
Made a new forum signature and avatar. I hate DEUI; the lecturer's boring and the practical teacher idiotic, pacing the lab telling us to close this and that. No proper lessons, we're not allowed to surf.
My CANI assignment 1 proposal got approved. I'm cleared to use Fatboy Slim's Ya Mama for the animation music. Assignment 2 is group work; we've done the treatment and will email the lecturer tomorrow for approval.
Home by 6pm, then Warcraft III with Phuse, 67th, Firezai and co until 9.30pm: three rounds, lost first, won next two. Finished my CANI assignment 1 proposal to hand in, set to Fatboy Slim's Ya Mama.
Added a new feature to the site: you can pick your colour scheme, found on the left under 'Your Info'. Changes apply on the next page load. I can't solve one problem though; it may be refresh-related.
Bought the CD rack I wanted from Ikea, 160cm by 111cm, almost as tall as me. Thanks to my uncle's MPV, I got it home; a normal car wouldn't fit it. At $198, a decent buy.
Watched Men In Black 2. Every slot sold out bar the midnight one we'd booked early. Theatre packed, 1 hour 20 minutes. Funny, but the storyline's weak; the original was better, and it felt too short.
Learnt to animate realistic bouncing balls and a pendulum in my computer animation practical. Three games of Warcraft III, all won, though I played without form. Confirmed for MIB:II tomorrow at Plaza Singapura, 4.50pm, Row J.
