The Fail Whale, designed by Lu Yiying, was made famous by Twitter, which shows it whenever the server is overloaded or down. Zazzle and Spreadshirt are the two official places to buy the Fail Whale t-shirt, and I've ordered mine.

My exams ended on 6th May 2009, and straight after I went for retail therapy, buying a Nintendo Wii from Qisahn.com at Far East Shopping Centre on Orchard Road. A last-minute decision made the day before.

My April 2009 site traffic stats: 10,377,687 hits, 708,306 pages and 187,375 visits from 154,940 unique sites, with about 39.2 million KBytes transferred over the month. A slightly quieter month, but traffic stays comfortably in the millions.
Dell Swarm
I was invited to an Intel and Dell Swarm event at Geek Terminal yesterday. Dell Swarm is a clever idea from Dell Singapore, making Singapore the first country to launch it, around 5th May 2009.

As mentioned previously, Nokia Messaging makes mobile email easy, mobilising consumer email across a range of Nokia S60 devices. It lets users quickly set up, access and use their email through a service optimised specifically for mobile messaging.
Blogger Race on the SingTel F1 Simulators
I was invited to the SingTel Blogger Race on the F1 simulators, currently at SingTel's Pickering Operations Complex, moving to Suntec City next week. I even got to wear the F1 race suit, which felt like a built-in sauna!
Iluma
Iluma is one of the newest malls in town, near Bugis MRT between Queen Street and Victoria Street. It's fairly large with five levels and, as far as I can tell, no basement. Tenants include Coffee Bean and Nichii Fashion.
WordPress For Dummies 2nd Edition
I ordered WordPress For Dummies, 2nd Edition by Lisa from Amazon on 5th April 2009. Amazon estimated delivery by 12th May, but they vastly overestimated, as it landed in my letterbox today, 16th April, far ahead of schedule.
Tampines 1 Blogger Mall Tour & Meet Together Session
Li Xiang and I attended the Tampines 1 blogger mall tour and meet-up. We met at 2pm at the level 6 management office. Reaching level 5, we realised there was no way up to level 6 from there.

On a whim, I emailed Ivy from SingTel to ask about buying the SingTel Huawei E180 modem at a discount. To my surprise, SingTel gave it to me free. Thank you, Ivy, and thank you, SingTel! It's just arrived.

Tampines 1 officially opens to the public this Thursday. Per the press release, Singapore's newest shopping destination is 100% leased out and opens on 9th April 2009 at 10am, spanning 260,000 square feet of fresh retail space.

I'm a Canon fan and prefer it over any other brand. I was invited to Canon's first blogger event at Screening Room, where they unveiled updated IXUS and PowerShot ranges plus new camcorders.

After nearly 24 hours of downtime, the site is finally back online. We removed the server from REACH Datacenter at 10pm and reached Qala around 11pm. Two mistakes: we forgot a CentOS installation DVD for Derrick's server, which delayed us.
Notice For Scheduled Maintenance 27/03/2009
Michael and I are moving this server from REACH Datacenter to Qala Datacenter on Friday, 27th March 2009. The site is expected down for eight hours, from 2200hrs Friday to 0600hrs Saturday, though hopefully it'll take less time than that.

I turned 25 today, a quarter of a centurion, and this website itself was born on 24th March 2002! I had a simple birthday lunch at Shokudo at Cineleisure before catching Dragonball: Evolution, with tickets at just S$6 each.

iPhone OS 3.0
Apple has announced iPhone OS 3.0, arguably the OS the iPhone should have shipped with. Expected features include in-app purchases, peer-to-peer connectivity, custom apps talking directly to hardware, turn-by-turn navigation, push notifications, and finally cut, copy and paste.
2K XBox 360 Games
I received two Xbox 360 games today from 2K Games, part of Take-Two Interactive, the studio behind Grand Theft Auto, Civilization, BioShock and more. BioShock 2 is due around September 2009 and will grace the cover of a magazine.
