Motorola SURFboard SB6210 Cable Modem

My Starhub MaxOnline Premium broadband plan has expired a few months back. Rather than waiting till December 2009 for promotion, I decided to renew and go for the Enjoy 30% OFF MaxOnline Ultimate promotion (till 31st December 2009). The usual price for MaxOnline Ultimate is S$124.12 per month but with this promotion, it is just S$86.88 per month. The contract length is standard 24 months. Thus I made a savings of S$2,978.88 – S$2,085.12 = S$893.76 which is the price of a cheap laptop or a high-end netbook.

The freebies include the delicious Motorola SURFboard SB6120 and free 12 months subscription of Norton 360 All-In-One Security Package Version 3.

Nokia Booklet 3G Mini Laptop Announced

Nokia has jumped onto the netbook bandwagon. I have no idea why it calls it a mini-laptop. For me, I classify all laptops that is powered by Atom processor a netbook. Initial specification looks delicious featuring 10″ glass screen, 3G connectivity, A-GPS and it only weights 1.25kg. To add, it is powered by Microsoft Windows.

Lets hope Singapore gets this!

Sushi Tei’s 15th Year Anniversary Menu

Sushi Tei will be celebrating its 15th birthday this coming September. As part of the celebration, Sushi Tei will be giving back to the community. It has created a “Sushi Tei Anniversary Menu” with five menu items where 100% of net sales proceeds from the anniversary menu will be donated to charity. The adopted charities for Sushi Tei are Children’s Cancer Foundation (CCF) and Home Nursing Foundation (HNF). The proceeds will be split evenly and it hopes to raise S$150,000 for the adopted charities.

In addition to commemorating the organization’s anniversary, Sushi Tei will open a new restaurant at City Square Mall this September. Further expansion plans for this year include moving Sushi Tei’s very first
restaurant from its original location at Holland Village to a larger premise in the same vicinity. The new Holland Village restaurant will combine contemporary elegance and intimate ambiance with an expanded
alfresco dining area.

Dell Vostro 220 Mini Tower Desktop

My mom ordered 4 Dell Vostro 220 Mini Tower Desktop computers for her company last week. This week, 3 units came on Tuesday and 1 unit came on Wednesday. I was there on Wednesday to help her setup the computers. I managed to setup everything for the 3 units that came on Tuesday. So happen when I wanted to setup the unit that came on Wednesday, there was a problem! The first time I switch on the PC, I got a BOSD after reading Dell’s EULA. After rebooting, it will load Windows XP and then hang at the “Pre-installing Factory Settings”. I tried like 10 times, all the same results. Ran the diagnostics CD that came with the PC as told by the Dell telephone support personnel, but I can’t seem to find any problem with the hardware like the HDD or the RAM. So I suspect it must be either the motherboard or the integrated graphics card as those are not tested in the diagnostics.

Dell’s engineer came down today and said there was a problem with the motherboard bios configuration and he changed the whole motherboard and now everything is fine.

Gmail With Push On iPhone Using Prowl And Your Own Webserver

Before I start this tutorial, I would like to give full credits to crimsontwo from xSellize forums and joshua.menke from cocoaforge. I merely improve on crimsontwo’s work.

In the thread, Gmail + push on iPhone w/ Prowl on xSellize forums, crimsontwo gave instructions on how to run the Prowl python script on your iphone. The downside to it is that if your iPhone connection change from EDGE to 3G or 3G to Wifi or any vice versa, the script will be disconnected from Gmail. To solve this problem, he recommends you to upload the script to your own web server instead.

Birthday Party Bash Review

I received the Birthday Party Bash Wii game by 2K Play 3 weeks ago. Played the game during our “Games Day” which is on the 1st August 2009 to celebrate the end of our internship!

Birthday Party Bash as the name suggest is extremely suitable to be played during birthday parties as the focus of the whole game will be on the birthday boy or girl. When you start the game, you will get to choose 3 options, “Custom Party”, “Quick Party” or “Free Play”.

HP’s City of Dreams

City of Dreams is HP Digital Festival happening from 7th to 13th August 2009 at Ion Orchard Basement 4.

I attended the event with Li Xiang yesterday, thanks to Amelia from Waggener Edstrom for the invite. The event was a short and sweet event, these days I kinda like short event where it will not last more than 2 hours. I think I am getting old here. Talk to a few bloggers there and we realized we grew to a point that we are sick of typing so much stuff and instead post more pictures and let it do the talking.
