Wandrd DUO Daypack
Wandrd‘s DUO Daypack started out as a Kickstarter project where it raised a total of US$655,287 out of their initial goal of US$25,000 from 3,574 backers.
The project started on 13th June 2019 and became successfully funded on 27th July 2019.
I heard of Wandrd before when I was Googling about backpacks, and hence, once Wandrd announced a new backpack on Kickstarter, I backed it without much hesitation.
I pledged the Super Early Bird reward, where I will get the Wandrd DUO Daypack for US$164 (S$223). The expected retail price of the Wandrd DUO Daypack will be US$219 (S$298). Shipping to Singapore is an additional US$15 (S$21).
Out of the 57 projects I backed on Kickstarter, this is the only project that I received one month before the estimated delivery date. I am supposed to get the Wandrd DUO Daypack sometime in December 2019, but I received it via DHL on 8th November 2019.
One of the unique features of the DUO Daypack is the infinity zipper system, where there is only one main zipper with four zips that runs through all the sides of the bag.
The other unique feature of the DUO Daypack is the POP cube. POP cube is a multifunctional space organizer for a variety of tech and photography items.
If you need to protect your camera, you can pop it up, and it becomes a protective shell. If you don’t need it, leave it flat, and it blends with the bottom of the bag. The space it occupies is almost negligible.
The Wandrd DUO Daypack took several design cues from the Peak Design Everyday Backpack, like the dual side access, and the cube divider.
I like the organization of the DUO Daypack more than the Everyday Backpack as the pockets are larger are better placed. The pockets are also straight away accessible once you open up the bag.
You can open up the DUO Daypack in a way that it lays flat on the ground. This allows you to visualize all the items you have in the main compartment of your bag in a glance.
I am not a fan of the top pocket as it is relatively shallow compared to the Everyday Backpack’s top pocket.
The key hook is in the top pocket.
There is only one side pocket, and that is on the right. It is designed for you to put your water bottle.
The left side has the carrying handle instead.
DUO Daypack has luggage passthrough and a hidden pocket on your left for you to keep your passport.
There are also various hook loops around the bag for other Wandrd accessories.
You will feel a noticeable weight difference when you carry the DUO Daypack (1.2 kg) v.s. the Everyday Backpack (1.8 kg).
Apart from being weather-resistant, Wandrd also has a no questions asked lifetime guarantee for the bag.
