I sleep in an air-condition room almost all the time and ever since my LASIK, I am more conscious about the dryness of my eye as I don’t want my degree to regress. When I sleep, my eyelids are not fully close (I have no idea why) and I get extreme dry eyes when I wake up the next morning.
My LASIK doctor had already prescribed me with Duratears for me to apply everynight before I sleep and to wear an eye goggle.
I went the extra mile and gotten the OSIM uMist to humidify my room. OSIM is having sale now, the OSIM uMist is now selling for S$88 (the usual price is S$128). Got my set from Best Denki at VivoCity.
The reason I got the OSIM uMist is because it is slightly cheaper and OSIM is a more established brand.
Using the OSIM uMist is pretty straight forward, you only have to set the level of mist to be produced (Low, Medium or High). There is also an optional timer (2hrs, 4hrs, 6hrs or 8hrs) that you can set to automatically switch off the device when the time is up. 1 full container of water on low can last you about 24 hours while on high can last you about 14 hours.
The recommended humidity level for a room is about 50%, in an air-condition room, the humidity level will drop to about 20%.

Have you compare this with Novita? Seems like Novita better, they have humid detection. And do you read any bad effect of humidifier ?
I prefer the design of this than Novita, my mom got the Novita for the office, it is more expensive and the only difference is that it can auto stop when it reaches a specific % of humidity. I have not read of any side effects of humidifier. I doubt there is any
After use humidifier, do you see any effect for SG hot weather or you always use in aircon room?
read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humidifier#Disadvantages_and_risks
I only use it in aircon room when I sleep only. This device is too small to raise the whole room humidity to 50%, most likely is only a small area around it. On the other hand the Novita is capable of raising the whole room humidity since it is bigger.
Do you find it very noisy…. like constant dripping water when it operates? I just bought one and its too noisy to have it on at night when you sleep.
I find it noisy at first, but I got used to it after sometime despite being a light slepper
nice review, but i think it says it can raise the humidity for 500 square feet, i guess not. From india this was the only review i could find thanks
I have one too. the water dripping sound is quite therapeutic for me =) maybe cos I put it in my office which is in an industrial building.
I used to always have dry eyes dry throat, it has since improved (but i always set it to high)
Recently, mine got issue. I frequently find when Umist is not operational, water level continues to drop. About 2 hours later, water starts flowing out from the sides until the water reservoir depletes. Really got no idea what to do and can’t find any discussion that talked about it. Guess it’s time to procure a new unit.
It still works perfectly, but it’s a pity that it has to go…
hi May I ask about how many voltage for the adapter 12v/2a ?
