Got the Anker Uspeed USB 3.0 9-Port Hub + 5V 2.1A Charging Port with 12V 5A Power Adapter from Amazon for US$59.99 (S$75) excluding shipping.
Ignore the long product name, it is basically a 9-port USB 3.0 powered hub with an additional USB charging port. Technically you can use all the 9 ports for charging as well but they might not be enough current because each of the 9 port can output a maximum of 900mA. From the USB 3.0 specifications, 900mA is the maximum amount of current that can be output from a USB 3.0 port.
When a device is attached to a USB 3.0 port, a device will reserve about 500-600mA for data transfer (even when not in use) and leave the rest for charging (300-400mA) which may not be enough as the average device needs about 500mA to charge.
That is the reason why Anker included the additional 10th USB port which is solely use for charging, capable of 2.1A output which is enough to charge your iPad normally.
I am not too sure whether you can get Anker products in Singapore, but it seems that they do make great products. I hope someone do eventually bring them in. From Gizmodo’s Five Best USB Hubs, this product was voted the best USB hub.
In a related note, it is very difficult to get a USB 3.0 hub in Singapore! So far I only saw the Macally’s 4-port Portable USB 3.0 Hub selling at Epicentre for S$45. Even Challenger doesn’t carry any USB 3.0 hub!
*UPDATE* Thanks to Anker’s Facebook Page, I got to know that the official reseller of Anker products in Singapore is Rareus, though they don’t bring in the full product range.

I think I asked you before. Does the hub enter into a low speed mode when one of the connected devices is a USB 2 device?
Good question, I have not tested it yet. I test it when I have the chance, but I don’t think so. What makes you suspect that?
Because gigabit Ethernet hubs run at lower speeds when one connected device isn’t gigabit.
Most early stage wireless routers run in G mode when one connected doesn’t support N.
Got reply from Anker: “Anker USB 3.0 hub is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 as well. That is to say, if the device plugged is a USB 2.0, hub will run the 2.0 speed for it, and it will not affect those USB 3.0 devices with USB 3.0 superspeed.”
I’ve used Hootoo USB 3.0 7 Ports. But this one seems another option.
Thanks for the share, I didn’t know about Hootoo!
I would like to find out where you have purchased this USB Hub from, Amazon.com seem to reject mailing it over to SG.
I shipped it to HopShopGo.com (freight forwarded) and have them forwarded to me
Which freighting company does HSG use? How do the services and shipping costs compare with borderlinx?
They use DHL. I have not used borderlinx before, but I love HSG (I am not affiliated to them in anyway). You can check out the price here http://www.hopshopgo.com/hopshopgo/service-supportprime-shippingratesFuel.do?l=en&c=SG
Riding on someone’s qn about US shipping, is it worth to ship LED monitors? They do have quite a decent price sometimes.. Any advise/experience? Haahaha you’re the only one I know that has shipped sooooo many items.
It is worth it to ship LED monitors unless your monitor is cheaper by at least 150-200 SGD, if not it is not worth it because of shipping cost (I am guessing easily USD$50 and above) and warranty issues (dead/stuck pixels)
