Ugreen Bluetooth 5.2 Audio Transmitter/Receiver
I bought the Ugreen Bluetooth 5.2 Transmitter/Receiver on Lazada during a flash sale for S$26.99. The usual price is about S$32.99.
Inside the box contents, there is a USB-A to USB-C charging cable.
As the product name suggests, this is a Bluetooth 5.2 Transmitter and Receiver. I bought it so that I can use my own wireless earphones or headphones with the airplane inflight entertainment system.
It charges via USB-C, and the battery can last 28 hours in transmitter mode and 20 hours in receiver mode, enough for even the longest flight.
Two devices can be used simultaneously, and it can remember up to five paired devices.
You can switch between transmitter and receiver modes by toggling the switch on the side.
Pairing is straightforward. Double-press the button to enter pairing mode (the indicator will flash blue and red). To pair with AirPods, open the cover of the AirPods case and press the button at the back of the case for three seconds. Once paired, the audio transmitter’s LED will remain solid blue for three seconds.
I wish they had moved the indicator LED ring away from the button. Because when pressing it, your finger will cover the indicator. So, you must lift your finger a little to peek at the indicator.
Most airplanes are moving towards the standard single-prong headphone jack. However, most of them still use the 2-prong airplane headphone jack. So, you will need a separate airplane audio adapter. These adapters are cheap. I got mine over 10 years ago for S$5.90.
If you travel often, this little audio transmitter will give you a quality-of-life upgrade, providing better sounds than the airlines’ cheap earphones. The audio transmitter has 28 hours of battery life; however, your wireless earphones cannot outlast the duration of long flights, so consider using wireless headphones instead for long flights.
