Four Christmases was better than I expected, though the storyline turns predictable from the start. It follows a couple visiting all four of their divorced parents' homes in one day. Not a spoiler, really, since it's all in the premise.
Here's my December 2008 update covering all 15 of my WordPress plugins plus one new one. They should work on WordPress 2.7, though I haven't tested older versions. The new plugin, WP-CommentNavi, paginates your comments for easier browsing.
I've upgraded lesterchan.net to WordPress 2.7 along with all my updated plugins. Please let me know of any bugs by email or in the comments, thanks! The update went smoothly, taking only about 30 minutes with few compatibility issues.
WordPress 2.7 has been released, a week late. Per the announcement, you'll notice new features sprinkled subtly through the interface, including a new dashboard you can rearrange by drag and drop to surface the things that matter most.
Nike has opened its largest flagship store in Southeast Asia right here in Singapore, on the second and third floors of Wisma Atria. The previous regional record-holder was in Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur. It even houses a Nike iD Studio.
I've been on a dog-movie streak these past two weeks, catching Beverly Hills Chihuahua last week and Bolt yesterday. Both were decent, but Bolt stands out; if I had to pick one, it'd be Bolt, funny and touching at once.
My November 2008 site traffic stats: 9,908,294 hits, 724,046 pages and 171,508 visits from 144,360 unique sites, with about 40.3 million KBytes transferred over the month. A solid month, with traffic holding comfortably in the millions.
Microsoft Singapore flew in Tim Huckaby from headquarters to talk on Windows Presentation Foundation, Silverlight 2.0 and programming for Microsoft Surface. Consistently rated among the top 10% of speakers, Huckaby focuses on smart client technologies, making for an engaging session.
Nokia has announced the N79 today, arriving in the first quarter of next year. It will be the first Nseries touch device and Nokia's second touchscreen overall, after the XpressMusic 5800, running S60 5th Edition on WCDMA with HSDPA.
Went to Sitex 2008 yesterday with Julian, Kelvin and Weiquan; surprisingly it wasn't very crowded. I'm starting to dislike Sitex for being so far out. This year disappointed: Ban Leong skipped it, so there were no Razer products at all.
My year 3, semester 1 exams are over! Yesterday's last paper, CS4254 IS Project Management, was the hardest of the semester, and most of my friends agreed. The past-year paper was much easier, despite being set by the same lecturer.
I had my first paper Saturday at 9am, helped by my school McDonald's and Subway both going 24 hours during the exam period. All my papers are open book this semester; the first, CS3251 Technology Strategy Management, was tough.
Just back from the Intel Core i7 launch at Equinox, Swissotel The Stamford, my second visit after an OCBC Chinese New Year dinner with my mom. Equinox sits on the 70th floor, so as you'd expect the view is stunning.
I ordered Fabrix Cases for my MacBook Pro last Sunday, delivered Wednesday by ordinary post with a S$1.50 stamp rather than courier. I'm amazed the postman squeezed the laptop sleeve into my letterbox. I chose the Delux Laptop Case.
Spotting two HardwareZone threads, Post pic of ur room and Showcase Your Mac(s) 2008, I decided to snap some photos of my computer table. Just sharing them here for anyone curious about what my workspace looks like.
Yesterday was Li Xiang's 24th birthday, so we had a mini celebration at Yaki Yaki Bo in Jurong Point's Shokutsu 10 Osaka food area. It's a teppanyaki restaurant, similar in concept to Sakae Teppanyaki, but with its own twist.
I caught Tropic Thunder a few weeks back and thought it decent, with plenty of cameos; I didn't realise Les Grossman was Tom Cruise until the credits. The Tugg Speedman and Alpa Chino exchanges made me laugh the most.
Barack Obama has won the US presidential election with 364 electoral votes to John McCain's 163, plus Democratic majorities in the Senate and House. Hopefully the economy recovers. Fellow Singaporeans, we need change here too in 2011.
As many of you know, the MacBook Pro shipped to me on 21st October 2008 has a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen. I expected better quality from Apple, but I was clearly wrong.
My October 2008 site traffic stats: 10,028,100 hits, 732,058 pages and 167,902 visits from 142,702 unique sites, with about 36.7 million KBytes transferred over the month. A solid month, with traffic holding steady in the millions.
I got the standalone Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 Premier Edition from The Software Boutique for S$79.90. Another version at S$89.90 adds a t-shirt and 2GB thumbdrive, but the default bundles are lousy, S$119 for the Office edition!
