Configuring Nokia Phones WLAN For NUS Wireless
First, your Nokia phone must be 802.11-enabled, whether an Nseries or Eseries. I'm using S60 3rd Edition, Symbian OS 9.2, as an example, though it should work on other S60 editions. We'll use the NUS WLAN SSID rather than NUSOPEN.
Nokia And Microsoft Silverlight
Nokia is bringing Microsoft Silverlight to S60 on Symbian OS later this year. Now we just need Adobe Flash Lite 3 delivered to our phones; impatient developers can already grab the Flash Lite 3 Developer Edition in the meantime.
IT Show 2008
IT Show 2008 runs this Thursday to Sunday, 6th to 9th March 2008, at Suntec City Exhibition Centre on levels 1, 3, 4 and 6. I'm planning to pick up a Canon Digital IXUS 860 IS for my uncle.
N-Gage First Impression
Nokia announced the N-Gage platform last August at its Go Play event, held in London and Singapore. Some may recognise N-Gage from the older gaming phones, the N-Gage Classic and QD, but this is a new software platform.
Farewell Nic & Blair
I went to Nic and Blair's farewell party at Screening Room Rooftop Bar on Ann Siang Road yesterday. The view is magnificent and I'll definitely return with Li Xiang, though the prices, especially the food, are a little steep.
Leap Year In 2008
Today is 29th February 2008, and the next time February has 29 days will be 2012. A leap year contains one or more extra days to keep the calendar synchronised with the astronomical year.
Adobe CS3 Master Collection
I got a shock arriving home from school today: a package from Adobe Singapore containing Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection. I was shocked and overjoyed beyond words; Adobe's online shop lists it at a whopping US$3,200.
L + Juno
I caught L: Change The World at Cineleisure last Friday, a spin-off featuring L from the Death Note films. After writing his own name in the Death Note, L has 23 days left, and the movie follows those final days.
iPod Touch 16GB + New Ikea Table
My old Sitoca table has lasted over five years and is still excellent, so I'm passing it to Li Xiang, whose table is collapsing. I went to Ikea for a new desk, a table top on Vika Grevsta legs.
.asia Domain Names Available
DotAsia has put .asia domain names up for sale, with premium names ranging from US$4,000 to US$21,000 per their auctions page. The so-called landrush for the latest suffix has begun, and DotAsia expects huge demand for the new namespace.
HD-DVD Is Dead
The format war is finally over and Blu-ray has won. I'm quite happy, as I always preferred it over HD-DVD. Consumers benefit greatly from a single standard, just like DVD and CD; Toshiba today announced it's ceasing HD-DVD production.

N-Gage Beta Tester
Nseries WOM World has chosen me to help Nokia beta-test N-Gage, even sending a Nokia N81 8GB from the UK to Singapore by DHL. Per the agreement the phone's on loan for two weeks; hopefully they extend it.

I went to Adobe's Singapore office at Suntec City Tower Three for an hour of Photoshop CS3 tips. The workshop, Exploit Photoshop CS3, was run by Shirley Tan, an Adobe Evangelist, and covered six handy tips in total.
What Is Man?
I caught What Is Man? at the Esplanade Theatre yesterday; it runs just two days. The performance started at 8pm and ended around 11:30pm, including a 20-minute intermission, across 28 scenes, fifteen of them before the break.

Lunar New Year 2008
Chinese New Year. I find it getting more boring each year, as my cousins grow older with their own families and our gathering time keeps shrinking. As kids we'd play late into the night; now it's all far briefer.

Nokia N96 specifications have leaked: HSDPA and quad-band GSM, measuring 103 by 55 by 18-20mm and weighing 125g. It packs WLAN with UPnP/DLNA, 16GB internal flash plus microSD, 256MB memory and a 2.8-inch QVGA display.
