Always wanted to play with NFC tags to see how some tasks can be automated.

I am using iPhone 5 which does not comes with NFC capability, but for my work phone, I am using the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (LTE) which does come with NFC capability. Samsung has it’s own brand of NFC Tags called Samsung TecTiles, but unfortunately it will not be available in Singapore till mid-December 2012.

One of my Twitter follower recommended Tapway which is based in Malaysia and at that time they are having a promotion. I bought the Enhanced Lifestyle NFC Pack for RM24.50 (S$9.80) and in this pack it contains 4x NFC Lifestyle Tags and 1x Personal Contact Card. Shipping from Malaysia is just an additional RM1.95 (S$0.80).

Ordered on the 25th October and I received it about 2 weeks later on the 8th November 2012. For the Android Apps, I am using NFC Task Launcher to write to the Lifestyle Tags and NFC Writer to write to the Personal Contact Card.

Right now I only written to 2 Lifestyle Tags (1 work and 1 home) which upon tapping with my phone will check into foursquare.

For the Personal Contact Card, the data will contain my name, address, email and mobile number. So if you are going to add me to your address book, all you have to do is to tap the card with a NFC enabled phone and all the my contact details will be there.
