UNI-T Cable Tester (UT681C)
We have sold out first home and are renovating our new home. Since our new home is an HDB Resale Flat, we have to lay Cat 6 LAN cables around the house. To test whether those cables were working, I decided to get a Cable Tester.
There are many brands of cable testers that are available on Lazada and Shopee. But I ended up buying the UNI-T Cable Tester (UT681C) since I have bought UNI-T products before.
I bought the UNI-T Cable Tester (UT681C) from Lazada for S$19. Local shipping within Singapore is an additional S$1.75.
There are two models to UT681, UT681C, and UT681L. The only difference is UT681C allows you to test for BNC cable, and it includes an RJ45 to BNC adapter in the package.
The packaging contents also include the 9V battery.
The RJ45 To BNC Adapter, included in the packaging, is meant to be used on the receiver unit.
A minor annoyance about the UT681C is I would need access to a Philip-head screwdriver to replace the batteries because a small screw secures the battery cover.
UT681C allows you to test RJ11 (telephone) and RG45 (LAN) cables.
The receiver unit can be detached from the transmitter unit.
If the LAN cable works correctly, the status light on the receiver and transmitter will light up simultaneously from one to eight in the same sequence.
