Apple 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max is only available in seven countries that use the Type A socket: U.S., Canada, China, Japan, Mexico, Taiwan, and the Philippines.

The product name is quite a mouthful: Apple 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max. As the name suggests, it is a 40W charger that can deliver a peak of 60W for a short period of time.

It is the first charger to use the new USB PD 3.2 SPR AVS specifications. SPR stands for Standard Power Range, while AVS stands for Adjustable Voltage Supply.

SPR refers to wattage between 27W and 100W, while EPR stands for Extended Power Range, which refers to wattage between 101W and 240W.

SPR AVS enables devices to adjust the charging voltage precisely between 9V and 20V in 100mV increments, improving power conversion efficiency and minimizing heat generation.

I got the Apple 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max in Japan from Bic Camera Shinjuku West as they offer tax refund. Apple stores in Japan don’t offer tax refunds. So if you want a tax refund for Apple products, your best bet will be Bic Camera or Yodabashi stores.

Since the Apple 40W Dynamic Power Adapter is quite a new product, many smaller Bic Camera or Yodabashi stores don’t carry it. I recommend visiting bigger stores like Bic Camera Shinjuku West.

The retail price in Japan is ¥6,480 (~S$55), the tax-free price is ¥5,891 (~S$50).

In Singapore, the closest you will get to this is the Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter which retails for S$29. Hopefully, Apple will soon replace this with the Apple 40W Dynamic Power Adapter.

The Apple 40W Dynamic Power Adapter is smaller and lighter in terms of size and weight. However, I am unsure if it is because of the socket type (Type A vs Type G). It measures 4.6 x 4.6 x 2.8 cm and weighs 80.6g, while the Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter measures 4.9 x 4.6 x 3.1 cm and weighs 85.2g.
