The USB 3.0 cable of my Western Digital My Passport Essential SE (USB 3.0) decided to give up on me after almost four years and hence I have to get a replacement cable.

I was expecting it to be difficult to find since USB 3.0 cables are not that widespread yet in physical stores. Luckily, I was wrong and I managed to find the Daiyo USB 3.0 A To Micro B Cable from Funan’s Challenger and it cost S$13.90 (after member’s discount: S$12.51).

I am a huge fan of Western Digital and I use their products for my backup purposes, I thought I might share their article on “Smarter Ways To Backup Your Data”. Personally, I am using some of the Western Digital products listed in the article below.

I am using Synology DiskStation DS413j as my NAS and inside it I have 4x 1TB WD Red hard drives. The NAS is used for backing up my media files for my Mac and PC.

Bought my Nokia Lumia 930 Case (CP-637) for my Nokia Lumia 930 for S$39 at Funan’s Nokia Store. There are three colors available, Orange, Green and Black.

Looking for a case for the Lumia 930 is challenging because none of the gadgets/electronics store carries it. You can only get it from Nokia stores themselves or from their solutions partners’ stores like (GadgetWorld, 3Mobile or Handphoneshop).

Bought my orange Nokia Lumia 930 from MobyShop on the same date as the official launch (Saturday, 12th July 2014) for S$699 (RRP is S$789). I traded in my old HTC One (32GB) for S$250, so I ended up paying S$449 for the Lumia 930.

Specifications

Being a gadget enthusiast, I don’t have a car windscreen mount for my phone. When driving, I always place my phone on the cover of my car’s cup holder. So when I need to check Google Maps when driving, I have to glance down for a few milliseconds and look back up again which is kinda challenging.

So I decided to get a windscreen mount for my phone. I saw the Just Mobile Xtand Go at Bangkok Central Embassy‘s iStudio and it looks pretty ok so I bought it for TH฿1090 (S$42).

Magnetic Organization System (MOS) was born out of a Kickstarter project 2 years ago. It raised a total of US$29,376 while the initial goal is only US$6,850 goal.

MOS “Magnetic Organization System” is a unique and elegant solution for organising and keeping track of your cables. Simply set the end of your cable on the MOS when it’s not in use and the MOS will magnetically hold it in place until you’re ready to put it to use again.

In my previous post about Belkin 6″ Lightning to USB ChargeSync Cable, I mentioned that it is not available in stores because it is exclusively available at Apple Online Store (Singapore). I was somewhat wrong, apparently you can get a similar Belkin 6″ Lightning to USB ChargeSync Cable in stores.

However, instead of the four colors which is sold online, there are only two colors in stores which is black and white. I saw it in Funan’s Challenger and is retailing for S$22. You will need to take note of the length of the cable indicated on the box because there are a few lengths available. Apparently, the 6″ (15cm) is the hardest to find. I only saw one box left in that store while other lengths have a few boxes left.

Just Mobile AluCable Mini is a short (4″/10cm) USB to Lightning cable that is finished in aluminium. I always wanted to get it and it is on my Amazon’s wishlist for a good period of time. However the shipping cost is just not worth it (doesn’t qualify for free shipping to Singapore).

The AluCable Mini is 5cm shorter than the Belkin 6″/15cm Lightning to USB ChargeSync Cable and that makes it the shortest good quality Lightning to USB cable that I owned after Kero – Lightning Nomad Cable.

When I first bought the Innergie MagiCable Duo With Lightning Connector in October last year, my main complain with the cable is that the base of the Lightning head is too wide and it will not fit some cases like the Apple iPhone 5s Case or the Power Support – Air Jacket Set for iPhone 5/5s.

Apparently, Innergie refreshed the cable quietly and this time round, the base of the Lightning head is much slimmer and there is a slight allowance right below the lightning connector to allow it to fit most if not all iPhone 5/5s cases.
