F1 Rocks Day 1 was fantastic despite three glitches: Soda Green's set was halted ten minutes by a sound fault, A-Mei's mic stayed silent for five minutes, and the changeover from A-Mei to Jacky Cheung dragged past thirty minutes.
Thanks to 24seven and STB, we bloggers got an exclusive tour of the F1 Rocks stage. F1 Rocks runs Thursday to Saturday, 24th to 26th September 2009, at Fort Canning Park. Tickets are limited, with Saturday already sold out.
Most netbooks share similar specs: an Atom N280, Intel GMA 950 graphics and a 10-inch screen, so I choose on battery life and looks. The Sony VAIO W VPCW115XG comes in three colours and won me over on style.
Bought the Sanyo Eneloop KBC-E1S for S$34.90 at member price from Challenger, for extra iPhone juice on trips. I weighed it against the KBC-L3S; the E1S uses two AA batteries while the L3S has a built-in lithium-ion cell.
The INQ Mini 3G is marketed as a social media phone, measuring 102.9 by 45.8 by 12.8mm and weighing 128 grams. It felt solid in the hand, yet somehow more like a toy than a real phone.
24seven is giving away three pairs of F1 Bay Grandstand tickets! To enter, tweet the contest message with the #f1 and #f1rocks hashtags and fill in the form. The contest closes on 21st September 2009.
Want a pair of F1 Rocks tickets for Friday, 25th September 2009, worth S$390? 24seven is giving away two pairs to bloggers. That night's concert features ZZ Top, No Doubt, Simple Minds and N*E*R*D. Here's how to win them.
I received the INQ Mini 3G review set today. Ahead of my full review next week, here are some unboxing photos plus a video of its startup and shutdown animations. Its Facebook and Twitter integration already feels pretty neat.
Another first from SingTel: it's the first in Asia to launch the INQ Mini 3G, billed as the ultimate 3G social networking phone. SingTel and INQ Mobile say local customers will be among the first worldwide to get it.
Apple has refreshed its iPod line. The Shuffle gains pink, green and blue, plus a polished stainless-steel edition exclusive to the online store, and now announces a full battery by voice. Third-party headphones with the Shuffle remote finally work too.
The Go the Extra Mile for Service movement today unveiled a new logo for GEMS Up, the next phase of Singapore's service journey, aiming to raise service delivery. This second phase is backed by five agencies.
In short, the HTC Hero reaches Singapore this month at S$898. It uses a capacitive touchscreen, so multitouch is supported. For the full review and specifications, check out HardwareZone's article, HTC Hero: In the Nick of Time.
I've been eyeing the Sony ICF-C1iPMK2 lately because it's quite affordable: S$179 retail, or S$159 at Challenger with member discount. It's an iPod and iPhone dock clock radio, with reviews over at iLounge worth a look before buying.
Nokia today announced the N97 Mini, X6 and X3 at Nokia World, so now there's an Eseries, Nseries and Xseries, plus an unannounced Cseries I suspect targets lower-end phones. I've shared the relevant parts of the press release here.
My August 2009 site traffic stats: 11,487,833 hits, 918,191 pages and 237,324 visits from 167,558 unique sites. Daily hits averaged 370,575, with about 44.7 million KBytes transferred over the month. A steady, healthy showing for the height of summer.
Apple's Mac OS X Snow Leopard is now available from the Apple Singapore store for S$48. I pre-ordered mine on 26th August 2009 and received it the next day. Living near their Keppel hub, my house is always first.
I've been hooked on Apple's Push Notification Service ever since I bought Prowl; the possibilities are endless. The service, released with iPhone OS 3.0 on 17th June 2009, uses push technology to deliver alerts to your device. Truly a godsend.
After a leaked press shot and a review by Eldar of Mobile Review, the Nokia N900 has been officially announced, reaching selected markets from October 2009. Running Maemo 5, it promises computer-grade performance in a handset.
My StarHub MaxOnline Premium plan expired months ago. Rather than wait until December 2009 for a promotion, I renewed via the Enjoy 30% Off MaxOnline Ultimate deal. Normally S$124.12 a month, the discount makes it far more palatable.
Nokia has jumped on the netbook bandwagon, though I've no idea why it calls the Booklet 3G a mini-laptop; for me, any Atom-powered laptop is a netbook. The specs look delicious: a 10-inch screen, 3G, A-GPS and just 1.25kg.
Sushi Tei celebrates its 15th birthday this September, giving back to the community with a special Anniversary Menu of five items. One hundred percent of the net sales proceeds from that menu will be donated to its adopted charities.
