Attended the Nokia Ovi Store Showcase at Ben & Jerry's in The Cathay; I love how Nokia always picks novel venues. We could order anything off the menu, even the S$88 twenty-scoop monster. I managed just one scoop.

Teach a Technophobe – Challenge #3
Challenge #3 of Nokia's Teach a Technophobe arrived yesterday. With my dad finally home to receive it on my behalf, I could start early. This one is trickier, and even I had to puzzle over it.

After a week with Infocomm123, I've found it's far more than a questions-and-answers portal, though that's the main feature. It also packs extras like the Big Fact Book and the Wireless@SG coverage map, my personal favourite. Here's a brief tour.
Cool Bananas & LArobe Netbook Cases
As mentioned, I received three parcels on the same day. The last was from Gear Zap and Mobile Fun, who sent two netbook cases to review. Cool Bananas offers plenty of designs for 10-inch netbooks.
Wii Birthday Party Bash
Christmas came early on Friday with three parcels! One for Nokia Technophobe Challenge #2, the second the Wii Birthday Party Bash game from 2K Play, and the third two netbook cases. This post covers the Wii game.
Desaru Trip
Went to Desaru on a two-day, one-night trip with my family of six on Saturday, S$178 each, organised by the Ngan/Gan Clan Association. We gathered at the association at 7am, a tour group of 27 in all.
Tampines 1 Official Opening
Attended the official opening of Tampines 1 last Friday, held on the rooftop terrace with host Adrian Pang. The ceremony marked 100 days since the mall opened to the public on 9th April 2009. A lively celebration for a milestone.

Li Xiang’s Blog Moved
I've moved Li Xiang's blog from Blogger to our own domain on WordPress. I imported all posts successfully without using WordPress's default Blogger importer; instead, I backed up the Blogger site first and worked from that export.
Cybercrime Uncovered By Symantec
I was invited to Symantec's Cybercrime Uncovered event at the Pan Pacific Hotel, arriving on time since it's near my workplace. I was surprised to see Wilfrid there, now sporting a Nokia N97. Sadly I forgot my camera.

My first Teach a Technophobe challenge arrived on Friday. I chose my mom, Jas Ngan, a businesswoman who often needs email on the go. I'm using the excellent free Symbian app Best Screen Snap to capture screenshots on the E75.

Last year I queued at the SingTel iPhone 3G launch as an ordinary consumer; this year I attended with a media pass. I arrived early, around 1.30pm, since I had errands at Funan, and the media event began about 3.30pm.

Tampines 1’s SWOP Party For Charity
Tampines 1 holds its official opening ceremony next Friday, 17th July 2009, and on Saturday 18th there's a SWOP party at its Roof Garden. The SWOP party encourages recycling, letting anyone come exchange their clothes and accessories with others.

Google Chrome OS
Google has announced Chrome OS, though it won't ship until the second half of next year. It looks set to challenge Microsoft's Windows 7 Starter Edition on netbooks. Chrome OS is an open-source, lightweight operating system aimed initially at netbooks.
