Dyson V8 Motorhead
I am currently using the Philips PowerPro FC8764 Bagless Vacuum Cleaner (2,100w) which I got it from Tangs VivoCity for S$265.
It works well and it is powerful, the only irritating part is the cord.
I have been eying on a Dyson V8 for a few months. I just can’t bear to spend so much money on a vacuum cleaner.
It was a surprise when I received the Dyson V8 Motorhead from my brother and sister-in-law as a wedding gift. I literally hug it and smile at it. Thanks guys for the gift =)
Using The Dyson V8
The Dyson V8 comes with lots of tools and accessories. The manual didn’t really state the tool name and what it is primary used for. I guess they expecting people to know it because it is common sense?
This is my first time using a cordless vacuum cleaner and it felt a little weird (in a good way) without all the wires. It is so convenient.
The Dyson V8 weight is comfortable, it doesn’t felt too heavy or too light, it is just nice.
I am used to just moving the vacuum cleaner around and have it do the vacuuming. But for the Dyson V8, it is a trigger mechanism. You have to press on the trigger for it to vacuum. I am still getting used to that.
Because the battery runs out pretty quickly, you have to move fast. You can’t vacuum the same area repeatedly because it wastes time. You just have to do it in one go. That also requires me to get used to it.
For a HDB BTO 5-room flat (like mine), a 25 minutes charge is just enough to vacuum the whole house if you move fast. You will have to change the way you vacuum to suit the battery life of the Dyson V8.
You have to always bear in mind the 25 minutes time limit, it is sort of a time bomb. You will get used to it and it will train you how to vacuum the whole house in a very efficient manner.
Should you get the Dyson V8? I would say it depends.
If you flat is small, it is a no brainer to get it because 25 minutes is probably more than enough time to vacuum the whole house.
However, if you live in a bigger flat/house which is probably more than 120sqm. You will not be able to finish vacuuming your house in a single charge. That may be an irritating issue. I would suggest getting the Dyson V8 to do ad-hoc vacuuming and a normal vacuum cleaner to vacuum your house instead.
